Write a draft Write about your favorite singer or writer. Step 5: Revise and rewrite to build sub-skills Skill 1: Use correct tense of verbs to make the article clear and logical. 1. Read the draft and correct the mistakes in it. He has begun to play the piano at the age of 4. → He began to play the piano at the age of 4. ... since then he enjoyed great success in Asia. → ... since then he has enjoyed great success in Asia 2. More exercises: (Self Check) Skill 2: Use proper conjunctions to make the article coherent and natural. 1. Think about how to connect these sentences together: He is a great singer. He is a skilled songwriter. →He is not only a great singer but also a skilled songwriter. I like his songs. His songs can bring so much joy to my life. →I like his songs because his songs can bring so much joy to my life. 2. Learn about more conjunctions or linking phrases which can be used in writing. Skill 3: Use descriptive adjectives and adverbs to make the article vivid and specific. 1. Read the highlighted words in the passage and compare it with the one without these words.
