·Lead in the topic of helping animals in danger through a video and broaden Ss’ views through learning more endangered animals ; ·Get more information about the South China tiger through reading and know the fact that they are in danger.
·Get some basic information about the blue whale and the wild Bactrian camel through reading and watching;
Step 1 Watch and think T plays a video of endangered animals and guides Ss to think about the living situation of the wild animals. And then guided Ss to talk about more animals in danger. Step 2 Let’s read. Ss read the passage about one of the endangered animals: the South China tiger and complete the passage. Step 3 Read and answer Ss read the passage fast to find out more animals in danger . After that, Ss read the passage again and complete the table. Step 4 watch and check Ss watch a short video about the blue whale and view the map of Mogolia to broaden their horizons about the animals. Observe Ss’ reaction and get to know their background information and existed knowledge about the animals in danger according to their answers.
Observe Ss’ reaction to see if they can get the information of the South China tiger after reading and learn to use “to do” in the context. Observe Ss’ reaction to see if they can get the key information when they watch the video and read the passage.
Check how much they know about the blue whale and the wild bactrian camel according to their answers.
·Discuss and understand the reasons why the animals are in danger and develop the ability of compassion for animals. ·Discuss the ways to help animals in danger by using “to do” structure.
·Listen and complete a poster about wildlife club. ·Know the importance and necessity to help animals and make a poster to voice for animals through joining an activity of a wildlife club shared by the teacher; Discuss and know about the content of their poster. Create their own poster to voice for animals with the help of the checklist and they check their work through viewing an example poster. Present the poster and share the ideas to protect the animals they choose. Step 5 Let’s discuss 1 Ss discuss in groups with the help of some pictures and think the reasons why the animals are in danger ; T guides Ss to feel and imagine the pain and helplessness of animals. Step 6 Let’s discuss2 Ss discuss more ways to help animals in danger throug the group discussion. Step 7 Let’s listen Ss listen and compete a poster about helping the wildlife and feel the power of helping animals. Step 8 Make a poster T guides Ss to do make a poster to join in the activity of a wildlife club. Ss discuss and think about how to make a poster with the helo of T’s guiding. Then Ss work in group of 4 and design the poster. Organize the group work :S1 is for the basic information(what), S2 is for the reasons (why), S3 is for the ways (how), S4 is for the whole designing. Then Ss design the poster with the help of a checklist and evaluate their work. Step 9 Work in groups T shows the steps about how to present the poster ①S1 introduces the basic information part;
②S2shares the reaons why they are in danger;
③ S3 share the ways to help animals in danger.
④ S4 design a beginning anf an ending Then Ss will watch an example video and practice by themselves. Listen to Ss’ answers about the reasons to see how they analyze the reasons and if they can feel the pain of the voiceless animals. Listen to Ss’ answers about the ways to see how they look for solutions to the problems and if they can use “to do” to talk about ways. Listen to Ss’ answers about the information of wildlife club and see if they can complete the poster with the listening tip. Listen to Ss’ ideas on how to make a poster to see how they can apply what they’ve learned and check of they can design the poster through “what, why and how”. Observe their work in the group to see if everyone helps and check their work with the checklist.
Observe Ss’ reaction and work to see if they understand how to do make a poster according to the checklist. Observe Ss’ presentation to see if they can present the poster according to the steps.
·Realize the importance of everyone’ voice and actions to build a better world for animals by watching a video. Step 10 Share and think Ss watch a video and then T guides Ss to think about the brilliant possible future of animals with the help of everyone . See if Ss can get the awareness of protecting animals in their real life and feel hopeful to build a better world through their help.
·Consolidate the knowledge and apply to use the grammar of “to do”by finishing some exercises on the book. Know how to polish their poster and will practice what they learned to voice for animals in danger in their real life. ·Get to know more about the information of endangered animals by searching online. Step 11 Homework Choice A: Polish your poster and put up your poster at your school to call on (号召) more people to protect animals. Choice B: 1.Polish the poster and record a video to voice for animals.Post it online or send it to the wildlife club in Sonia’s school.
