教学目标
At the end of the class, students will be able to: 1. get a general understanding of green living through skimming and scanning; 2. deepen the understanding of green living by internalising the details of 3R’s through tables and mind maps; 3. apply 3R’s to solve real life problems to live a green life.
教学重难点
教学重点: 1. Instruct students to classify the information and draw tables to deepen the understanding of green living; 2. Guide students to internalizing the details of 3R’s through tables and mind maps.
教学难点: 1. Students may have difficulty in retelling the 3 R’s according to the mind map; 2. Students may be unable to find more problems in the classroom.
教学过程
Step 1 Warming up Sing the song Going Green to warm up. Students can stand up and shake their bodies. After singing, students guess the topic today. 设计意图:活跃气氛,调动学生积极性,引出话题。 Step 2 Reading Activity 1 Skimming Students skim the passage and divide the passage into 3 parts. Then match them with their main ideas. Why should we be green How can we be green How green are you 设计意图:学生快速阅读文章,了解文章大意,借助分段,梳理文章三段式脉络。 Activity 2 Scanning 1. Students scan the first part of the passage and choose the best answer to the question. How does the writer start the passage By telling a story. By listing numbers. By asking some questions. By giving examples. 设计意图:学生通过观察,发现文章开头写作技巧。 2. Students answer these questions together to check how green they are. 设计意图:学生反思自己行为是否环保,为下一步阅读做铺垫。 3. Students scan Paragraph 3 and fill in the table. Then, guide students to give titles to the third and fourth parts. 设计意图:引导学生通过表格梳理第三段细节,思考并提炼该信息内涵即reduce的好处及建议。为下面两段的自主阅读做铺垫。 4. Students scan Paragraph 4 and Paragraph 5, draw tables for them by referring to the table of Paragraph 3, and fill in the tables. Steps Reuse Recycle
设计意图:引导学生在文段中寻找特定信息,思考如何利用表格整理文段,从而更好地理解文章。 5. Students scan Part 2 and check (√) the suggestions that are mentioned in the passage, and divide them into three R’s. Order food that you can finish. Use less electricity at home. Learn ways to recycle rubbish. Use paper cups and paper bags. Repair things. Divide rubbish into different groups. Collect waste or rubbish to raise money. Burn things to save energy. 设计意图:考查学生对文章细节的把握,加深学生对于3R’s及其分类的理解。 Step 3 Drawing and Retelling Students retell Paragraph 3 according to the mind map. Draw mind maps for Paragraph 4-5, and retell the two paragraphs by themselves. 设计意图:利用思维导图与关键词,再次梳理并内化文章信息,学会运用思维导图与关键词复述文章。 Step 4 Solving the problems
1. The teacher tells students the school is going to look for “the Greenest Classes”. To help the class get the title, students need to find some problems in the classroom and try to give suggestions. 2. The teacher gives some examples. 3. Write a passage or make a poster about how to make our classroom green based on the table. Step 6 Summary 1. Guide students to summarize what they have learned by filling in the blanks. Question: How green are you Repeat the three words daily : reduce, reuse, recycle. Reduce: Save food and energy. Reuse: Look after and repair things. Recycle: Divide the rubbish into plastic, glass, paper and rubber. 2. Guide students to find the word hidden in these sentences. 设计意图:通过复习所学内容,回顾今日主题——绿色环保。 3. Watch a video from mother nature. Emphasize the fact that nature doesn’t need people, but people need nature. Ask students to take simple steps right now so as to save the world for our grandchildren tomorrow. 设计意图:以大自然的角度,强调自然不需要人类,但人类需要自然,绿色环保造福子孙,迫在眉睫,帮助学生树立环保理念,升华主题。
