教学目标
1.Knowledge objectives: 1) To be able to understand the new words and phrases and know more about The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. 2) To be able to understand the sentences with present simple passive. 2.Ability objectives: 1) To be able to read for the general and specific information by skimming and scanning. 2) To be able to analyze the writing features of a book review. 3) To be able to introduce one of the students’ favourite books to others. 3.Morality objectives: 1) To know more about Mark Twain and his works. 2) To enjoy the pleasure of reading and enlarge one’s own knowledge.
教学重难点
教学重点： 1. To read and understand the passage, know more about The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. 2. To be able to read for the general and specific information by skimming and scanning. 教学难点： 1. To be able to analyze the writing features of a book review.
2. To be able to introduce one of the students’ favourite books to others.
教学过程
I. Lead-in（2 mins） Step 1: Ask the students to do a brainstorm about their favourite books and watch a video clip of students’ interview. T: 1. What is your favourite book 2. Why do you like it S1: I like Harry Potter series best… S2: My favorite book is Journey to the West… S3: My favorite book is Romeo and Juliet…I am deeply moved by Romeo and Juliet’s tragic love. T: My favourite book is The Adventures of Tom Sawyer written by Mark Twain. Step 2: Watch a cartoon clip of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and check the students’ first impression of the boy Tom Sawyer. T: Tom is a lively and clever boy. Do you want to find out more stories about Tom 设计意图: 通过头脑风暴，引导学生思考自己最喜欢的一本书籍，并激发学生向他人介绍这本书的欲望。唤醒学生的主题背景知识、培养学生发散思维。 借助卡通视频，引出本节课主题《汤姆·索耶历险记》，激发学生继续探索本书内容的求知欲，逐渐帮助学生熟悉语篇话题，激活话题词汇语义网。 II．Fast reading (3 mins) Step 3:① Predict the text type of the passage from the title. A. give money to B. are punished for ② What are the features of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer It is written in everyday English, and the dialogues sound especially real. ③ How could Mark Twain use everyday English in this book Mark Twain was born in Missouri state, so he was very familiar with the people living there and the language they use everyday. That makes the story real and vivid. That is why it is still read and loved by people all over the world. 设计意图： 1.通过精读环节环环相扣的问题链，引领学生进一步与语篇互动、学习运用主题词汇和语法，形成以文本为依托、以主题意义探究为目标，融合语言和思维的阅读能力。 2.掌握扫读的阅读技巧。这是一种为寻求特定细节，放弃大部分无关内容，只注意某一点或几点的阅读方式。要求学生根据老师准备的几个信息问题抓住重点进行跳跃式阅读，找出问题的主要信息。有效指导学生训练阅读技巧有助于理清文章中的脉络与关系。 IV. Post-reading (3 min) Step 5:① Analyze the structure of a book review. ② Group work. Pick one book and introduce it to your group and read an example of how to introduce a book. Step 6: Self-evaluation: Rate your performance according to the Learning objectives. 设计意图： 通过分析语篇结构，引领学生学习并掌握书评的结构，学习如何运用主题句式介绍 自己最喜欢的一本书。 通过小组活动，鼓励学生运用自己所学到的句式，介绍自己喜欢的一本书，在组内 进行展示， 锻炼语言运用能力。提供样例，使学生学习并自我检验。 3．鼓励学生对本节课所学习的内容进行反思总结。 V. Assignments (1 min) For all students: 1.Find more information about Mark Twain and his other books. 2.Introduce one of your favorite books to your friends. Optional: Write a passage about your favourite book VI. Connection and Summary Encourage the students to read more books and make a summary: “Books are the ladder of human progress.”
