VI. Teaching Procedures
● Step 1: Warming up (3 minutes)
● Greet the students in English, such as "Good morning/afternoon, everyone! How are you today "
● Review the greetings and self-introductions learned in Section A, and ask some students to perform simple greetings and self-introductions.
● Step 2: Presentation (10 minutes)
● Show the pictures in 1a on the multimedia and ask students to look at the pictures and answer the questions: "What can you see in the pictures ", "What are the people doing "
● Guide students to understand the meaning of the words and phrases in 1a through pictures and simple explanations, such as "ruler", "pencil", "eraser", "book" and so on.
● Ask students to match the words with the pictures in 1a, and check the answers together.
● Step 3: Practice (15 minutes)
● Listen to the tape of 1b. Students listen carefully and circle the words they hear. Play the tape twice to ensure that students can understand and complete the task.
● Ask students to work in pairs. One student points to an object in the classroom or uses a stationery item, and the other student says the corresponding English word. Then exchange roles.
● Group activity: Divide the students into several groups. Each group takes turns to say a word in 1a, and the other groups quickly say the corresponding Chinese meaning. The group that answers correctly and quickly gets one point. The group with the highest score wins.
● Step 4: Production (10 minutes)
● Show the dialogue in 2d on the multimedia. Let students read the dialogue silently first, and then play the tape of 2d for students to listen and imitate.
● Ask students to role-play the dialogue in pairs. Encourage them to use appropriate expressions and intonations to make the dialogue more vivid.
● Create some new situations, such as meeting a new classmate in the library or on the playground, and ask students to make dialogues according to the situations using the expressions learned in this section.
Step 5: Summary and Homework (2 minutes)
● Summarize the key points learned in this class, emphasizing the words, phrases and sentences in 1a-2d.
● Assign homework: Ask students to review the words and dialogues in this section, and make a dialogue with at least five sentences using the learned expressions to describe how they introduce themselves and greet others to their parents.
VII. Blackboard Design
● Write the key words and phrases on the blackboard, such as "ruler", "pencil", "eraser", "book", "How are you ", "What's your name ", "How do you spell your name "
● Draw some simple pictures to help students understand the meaning of the words better.
