Write the expressions listed in 1a on the board: “ Hello!” “ Good morning.” “ How are you ”“ Nice to meet you.”“ What's your name ” and“ Goodbye”.2. Explain to students that these are common ways to start a conversation in English. Ask them if they are familiar with any of these expressions.3. Model the correct pronunciation of each expression, emphasizing the stress and intonation.4. Ask students to repeat after you, first individually and then in unison.5. Explain the meaning and appropriate usage of each expression. For example, “ Hello” is a general greeting,“ Good morning” is used in the morning,“ How are you ” is a way to ask about someone's well- being, etc.6. Look at the expressions in la and ask students to tick the ones they know.7. Ask students to read the expressions aloud together and individually.Step 3 Work on 1b1. Look at the pictures in 1b. Talk about them and predict what they may say.2. Play the audio of Conversation 1 and ask students to underline how people greet each other.3.
