教材分析 体裁与结构：本文的体裁是日记，描述了李大明自己参加校足球队训练的情况。他先介绍了整体的训练情况，然后分别从训练的季节、教练和球队支持者三个方面进行了说明。内容与价值：本文主要内容为李大明所在校足球队积极备战今年校际联赛的情况。他们虽然经历球赛失利但不轻言放弃，克服各种困难，积极坚持训练，学生从中可以学到积极乐观、坚持不懈的运动精神。语言与行文：英文文章常见的整体到局部的逻辑结构，表述比较简单易懂，呈现了很多形容词和副词的比较级的表达形式。
学情分析 从内容上看，体育运动属于大多数学生感兴趣的话题，且文中关于校际足球赛的描述与学生生活中的班际足球赛、校运会等活动极度相似，有利于学生理解文章内容，语言输出中也有更多内容可讲。文中重点强调了努力训练才能取得更好的成绩，教师可以适当引导学生发散思维，思考要取得更好的成绩还有哪些重要因素。从语言上看，学生对理解文章内容没有障碍，对于形容词比较级的表达形式较为熟悉，但副词比较级的表达形式还需多熟悉多练习。
教学目标 语言知识：能读懂介绍或描述体育活动的短文，并能根据上下文猜测词义；学会生词beat, careless, coach等；能学会形容词和副词的比较级的表达形式。文化意识：了解不同的体育运动，从运动员的经历中学习积极乐观、坚持不懈的运动精神。思维品质：在教师的引导下多角度思考基于阅读文段内容的问题，提高批判性思维的能力。学习能力：通过总结文段的主旨大意和核心思想，提高自主探索、总结归纳的能力，同时提高小组合作能力。
