1.(23-24 高三下·重庆黔江·阶段练习)What is Ozempic face A term you probably shouldn’t use.
The medication (药) Ozempic has taken the world by storm—largely due to rumored use by some celebrities
and the wealthy thanks to its weight loss effects.
But some physicians want to shift this narrative.
Ozempic was originally developed for the treatment of Type-2 diabetes (糖尿病), but it has also been shown
to cause weight loss—which led to the approval of Wegovy. It’s the same medication as Ozempic, but is taken and
administered only for the purpose of weight loss.
These medications have the potential to improve the health and lives of many people. While they can have
some side effects, they do not cause “Ozempic face” — a term that’s been increasing in popularity but experts say
is unfounded.
Ozempic face is not a medical term and is generally not a problem for people who have taken the medication
appropriately. It is a term that has been used by some people to describe the appearance of sagging (下垂的) skin
after weight loss.
Does Ozempic change your face No. Ozempic itself does not cause over loss of weight in the face. But, if
someone loses a lot of weight in a short amount of time, most often when they weren’t overweight or obese to
begin with, they may have a gaunt (憔悴的) appearance.
Dr. Judy Korner, a Professor of Medicine at Columbia University, says the negative remarks about what
one’s face looks like after weight loss is part of a pattern of abuse against obese patients.
“What’s been going on (with Ozempic) is the focus on people who are using it inappropriately. And it’s
making a mockery out of obesity, which is a disease,” she says. “We now are finally having medications that can
effectively target this disease, and the focus is completely on the wrong thing instead of focusing on the people who
are taking the medication correctly and whose health has been improved because of that.”
1.How does Ozempic attract the attention of the world today
A.By its weight lose effects. B.By its extremely efficient effect.
C.By celebrities’ wide use of it. D.By doctors’ expert explanations.
2.Why is Wegovy mentioned in the text
A.To prove Ozempic’s popularity. B.To show Ozempic’s development.
C.To mention Ozempic’s purpose. D.To indicate Ozempic’s minor effect.
3.What should a reader do after reading the text
A.Try to enjoy Ozempic’s side effect. B.Take Ozempic correctly if necessary.
C.Take Ozempic to lose his weight. D.Stop worrying about Ozempic face.
4.What is the purpose of the text
A.For introduction. B.For recommendation.
C.For clarification. D.For promotion.

2.(24-25 高三上·广东·阶段练习)The ban on cigarette advertising in the early 1970s in the United States
serves as a fascinating case study in the field of public health campaigns and their unintended consequences.
Despite the government’s intention to discourage smoking and reduce related health risks, the ban led to an
unexpected outcome: an increase in cigarette sales for the major tobacco companies.
The reason for this unexpected outcome can be traced to the principles of game theory, particularly the
prisoner’s dilemma paradox (悖论). Just as in the prisoner’s dilemma, where cooperation leads to the best outcome
for both parties, the tobacco companies would benefit collectively if none of them advertised. This action would
create fairness in competition, ensuring that no individual company gains an edge by advertising.
However, the dilemma arises when considering the potential actions of competitors. If one tobacco company
decides to ignore the ban and advertise its products, it stands to gain a significant market share and increased sales
compared to its non-advertising competitors. This creates a situation where each company faces the urge to
advertise, fearing that their competitors may do the same and leave them at a disadvantage.
In the end, most tobacco companies decided to play it safe and invested in advertising, despite the ban, to
avoid being left behind in the competitive landscape. This strategic decision reflects the uncertainty and strategic
considerations that shape business decisions, even in the face of regulations aimed at public health goals.
This application of game theory provides valuable insight into the complexities of influencing human
behavior through policy interventions. While well-intended efforts such as advertising bans may seem
straightforward in theory, the realities of strategic decision-making and competitive dynamics often lead to
unforeseen outcomes. As such, understanding the complexities of game theory can provide valuable insight for
policymakers seeking to design more effective interventions and address complex societal challenges.
5.What is a direct result of the ban in the 1970s
A.Cut in tax income. B.Reduction in health risks.
C.Rise in tobacco sales. D.Cooperation of companies.
6.How can all competitors benefit in the prisoner’s dilemma
A.They fully trust each other and follow the regulations.
B.They act independently and pursue their own interests.
C.They increase their market share at the expense of others.
D.They ignore competition and focus on their own strategies.
7.Why do most tobacco companies finally choose to advertise
A.To avoid intense competition. B.To gain a competitive advantage.
C.To shape better business images. D.To achieve public health goals.
8.What can be a suitable title for the passage
A.A Good Intention Fails. B.A Cigarette Ban Ends in Smoke.
C.A Ban Boosts Public Health. D.A Dilemma Concems Cigarette Compames.

3.(24-25 高三上·云南玉溪·开学考试)People have understood that kindness is good for the person who
receives help. For example, when we give food to a hungry person, he is blessed. However, scientists have recently
begun to study the effect kindness has on the person giving it. What they have found is that doing good is good for
the doer. Acts of kindness can improve health, help a person reach goals and even add years to a person's life.
The first study to show the connection between doing good and living a long life was a study on aging.
Beginning in 1956, scientists studied a group of married mothers for 30 years. They thought the women with the
most children would die first. But the number of children a woman had did not matter. Wealth did not matter.
Education did not matter. What did matter was whether they volunteered. Women that volunteered had fewer
diseases during their life.
Many other studies have found the same positive effects. Helping other people improves long-term health.
The gains are the same for the men, women, old people and the young. Those who volunteered had fewer serious
diseases than those who did not volunteer. This included diseases such as heart attack, cancer and stroke.
Scientists are researching many possible causes. One possible cause is an increase and antibodies (抗体 ),
which help fight against disease. One study showed the body produces more antibodies after an act of kindness.
This increase in antibodies can last nearly an hour after one act of kindness is finished.
Another one is an increase in chemical that fights the effects of stress from life. Scientists have found a link
between being kind to people and an increase in the chemical oxytocin (催产素). Oxytocin is a chemical produced
in the brain. It reduces many of the harmful chemicals the body produces under stress.
9.What did the study in paragraph 2 show
A.Diseases age people fast. B.Doing good is good for one’s health.
C.Women with more kids die earlier. D.A long marriage leads to a long life.
10.What can we infer about antibodies from paragraph 4
A.More antibodies may not be good. B.They help people reduce pressure.
C.They increase with one’s kind acts. D.The more antibodies, the more oxytocin.
11.How does the author develop the last two paragraphs
A.By explaining the causes. B.By making comparisons.
C.By introducing a method. D.By describing a chemical.
12.What does the underlined word “it” probably refers to
A.Oxytocin. B.The brain. C.Stress. D.Helping others.
【答案】9.B 10.C 11.A 12.A

许多有害化学物质,故划线词指的是“催产素”。故选 A。
4.( 24-25 高三上 ·广东 ·阶段练习)You’ve most likely heard the news by now: A car-commuting,
desk-bound, TV-watching lifestyle can be harmful to our health. All the time that we spend rooted in the chair is
linked to increased risks of so many deadly diseases that experts have named this modern-day health epidemic the
“sitting disease”.
Sitting for too long slows down the body’s metabolism(新陈代谢)and the way enzymes break down our fat
reserves, raising both blood sugar levels and blood pressure. Small amounts of regular activity, even just standing
and moving around, throughout the day is enough to bring the increased levels back down. And those small
amounts of activity add up — 30 minutes of light activity in two or three-minute bursts can be just as effective as a
half-hour block of exercise. But without that activity, blood sugar levels and blood pressure keep creeping up,
steadily damaging the inside of the arteries (动脉) and increasing the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and
other serious diseases. In essence, fundamental changes in biology occur if you sit for too long.
But wait, you’re a runner. You needn’t worry about the harm of a sedentary lifestyle because you exercise
regularly, right Well, not so fast. Recent studies show that people spend an average of 64 hours a week sitting,
whether or not they exercise 150 minutes a week as recommended by World Health Organization(WHO). Regular
exercisers, furthermore, are found to be about 30 percent less active on days when they exercise. Overall, most
people simply aren’t exercising or moving around enough to balance out all the harm that can result from sitting
nine hours or more a day.
Scared straight out of your chair Good. The remedy is as simple as standing up and taking activity breaks.
13.Which is the best way to bring down high blood sugar level and blood pressure
A.Doing exercise for 150 minutes or more every week.
B.Getting rid of the habit of car commuting and TV watching.
C.Standing or moving around for at least two minutes every day.
D.Interrupting sitting time with light activity as often as possible.
14.What does the word “sedentary” in the third paragraph most likely mean
A.Inactive. B.Risky. C.Overloaded. D.Unbalanced.
15.Which of the following may be inferred about those who do serious exercise
A.They always meet the exercise standard recommended by WHO.
B.They tend to stand or move less on the days when they work out.
C.They usually remove all the harmful effects of sitting for too long.
D.They generally spend less time sitting than those who do not exercise.
16.What is the passage mainly, about
A.The challenges of the modern lifestyle.
B.The effect of regular activity on our body.
C.The reasons for the spread of a modern epidemic.
D.The threat to our health from long hours of sitting.
【答案】13.D 14.A 15.B 16.D
【导语】这是一篇说明文。文章介绍了久坐对我们健康的威胁。
13.细节理解题。根据第二段中“Sitting for too long slows down the body’s metabolism (新陈代谢) and the way
enzymes break down our fat reserves, raising both blood sugar levels and blood pressure. Small amounts of regular
activity, even just standing and moving around, throughout the day is enough to bring the increased levels back
down.
But wait, you’re a runner. You needn’t worry about the harm of a sedentary
lifestyle because you exercise regularly, right (但是等等,你是一个跑步者。
故选 A 项。
15.细节理解题。根据第三段中“Regular exercisers, furthermore, are found to be about 30 percent less active on
days when they exercise. (此外,研究发现,经常锻炼的人在锻炼时的活跃程度要低 30%左右)”可知,认真锻
炼的人在锻炼的日子里往往站立或活动得更少。故选 B 项。
16.主旨大意题。根据第一段“You’ve most likely heard the news by now: A car-commuting, desk-bound,
TV-watching lifestyle can be harmful to our health. All the time that we spend rooted in the chair is linked to
increased risks of so many deadly diseases that experts have named this modern-day health epidemic the “sitting

称为“久坐病”)”可知,这篇文章主要介绍了久坐对我们健康的威胁。故选 D 项。
5.(24-25 高三上·广东·开学考试)A recent survey in the US found that Gen Z-ers and Millennials (千禧一
代) visit libraries more often than their parents or grandparents. The young love libraries because they are secure,
comfortable, free and—as my 11-year-old would say— “aesthetic”. This means they look good in the background
of an Instagram post or TikTok video. Libraries are also a great place to meet people. If you’re both young and in a
library, chances are that you have similar interests.
And then, too, there are the books. Gen Z-ers are turning out to be big readers, especially of paper books.
Even though they have smartphones, the most limitlessly distracting devices ever invented, in their pockets, many
are deliberately choosing to pick up a piece of 15th-century technology instead. They like the fact that books are
self-contained and require concentration.
There is, sometimes, a sense of nostalgic (怀旧的) cosplay in the way young people read. In New York, for
example, the latest TikTok-fuelled craze is reading with strangers in bars. You have to buy a ticket in advance, and
then you all gather and sit in silence for 30 minutes, reading whatever book you’ve brought along. Like an
expensive version of going to the library, except that afterwards you all have a drink and talk about books.
The very thought of it makes me suffer, but that’s because I’m a child of the 1970s and 1980s. To me,
reading is a private pleasure, while screens—TV or cinema—are social. I did once, in a fit of ambitious parenting,
introduce a “family reading hour”, during which my husband and children were pressed to join me at the fireside
for some silent reading. It could not have felt more performative if we had dressed up in top hats and crinolines (旧
时的裙衬). But still, I applaud these young readers—for knowing what is good for them, for seeking out human
connection, for finding the beauty and pleasure in old institutions, and for bringing new life to the library.
17.What does the underlined word “aesthetic” in paragraph l mean
A.Visually appealing. B.Similarly private.
C.Spiritually relaxing. D.Economically practical.
18.Why do many young people choose to read paper books despite having smartphones
A.Paper books are cheaper than smartphones.
B.Paper books are easier to carry around.
C.Paper books are a form of nostalgic entertainment.
D.Paper books offer a distraction-free reading experience.
19.What does paragraph 3 mainly talk about
A.The popularity of TikTok in New York.
B.A gathering attended by strangers free of charge.
C.A new reading trend integrating the old and new.
D.Historical costumes and their appeal to young readers.
20.Why does the author mention a “family reading hour” in paragraph 4
A.To highlight her success in parenting the children.
B.To illustrate her attempt to combine personal and joint reading habits.
C.To criticize the lack of interest in performance among family members.
D.To emphasize the importance of dressing formally during family activities.

6.(2024·内蒙古通辽·模拟预测)Scientists are not alone in the fight against the novel corona-virus(新型冠
状病毒), as new technologies and innovative products are giving them a hand. Here are some examples.
Big data
Our smartphones send data to telecom companies around the clock, telling these companies where we have
been and where we are going. Chinese telecom companies provide government with this data. They use the data to
track(追踪) traffic flows among different provinces and cities. By tracking how many people are coming and going
out of Wuhan, telecom companies can send warnings to areas that are being visited by large numbers of people
from Wuhan.
Drones
Drones(无人机) have played a major role in disinfection(消毒) and preventing cross-infection(交叉感染) in
crowded places like hospitals, railway stations and airports.
Police officers use drones to give warnings. For example, if people gather in large groups or do not wear
masks, drones with cameras can record and send images of these people in real time to control rooms. The drones
will then warn these people.
Robots
Robots are good helpers on the frontlines. They are used at hospitals to offer medical advice, deliver drugs or
meals, act like guides, perform disinfection and do other repetitive work. In this way, robots can not only help
greatly reduce the burden for medical workers, but also reduce the risk of cross-infection. They have also been used
in public places like train stations and airports to check temperatures.

7(. 2024·云南·模拟预测)Believe it or not, English has become the global lingua franca (世界通用语) in the
21st century. The ability to speak English fluently has become a necessity for individuals and countries to
participate in the global economy. This is particularly true for countries that heavily rely on international trade and
investment. Singapore is a perfect example of such a country.
Singapore is a small city-state located in Southeast Asia. Despite its small size, it has become one of the
most prosperous and innovative economies in the world. This nation has gained a reputation for having a good
quality of life, well-developed infrastructure (基础设施), and a favorable climate for businesses. While there are
four official languages in Singapore, English, Chinese, Malay, and Tamil, English is the most commonly used
language in business, education, and government.
English has played a crucial role in Singapore’s economic development. The country’s founding father, Lee
Kuan Yew, acknowledged the significance of English in the international business environment and made it a
priority to promote English learning in Singapore. He saw English as a tool to connect Singapore to the world and
attract foreign investment. The government carried out policies to promote English learning, such as making
English the medium of instruction in schools and providing financial support for teachers to teach English.
As a result of these policies, Singaporeans have become proficient in English, and this has given them a
competitive edge in the global economy. Singapore is home to many multinational corporations, and English
proficiency is a critical factor for these companies when selecting employees. Singaporeans’ proficiency in English
has also made it easier for them to conduct business with other countries, particularly those in the Western world.

8.(24-25 高三上·重庆·阶段练习)Anime(二次元) culture has become a very common culture in our daily
life. As people's minds become more and more open, most people gradually begin to accept anime culture.
Although increasingly more young people like anime culture than before, many still don't know why there are so
many people like anime culture in reality. What is its attractive charm
First and foremost, anime is not immature and cynical(玩物丧志的). Many people don't understand people
who like anime, just because they don't try to understand anime. They only evaluate it through other people's words
and their own knowledge. Of course, the comments are not very pleasant. After all, the older generation don't agree
with anime.
Moreover, the reason why today's young people like anime so much is not because they are killing time, nor
because they are addicted to animation, but because of pressure. Today's society is completely different from that of
the 1980s. Back then, having a motorcycle or a big TV at home was already impressive. But now, cars, houses, and
savings are everywhere, and young people are easily suffocated(扼制).
When we see anime protagonists invincible in the drama, willing to sacrifice everything to defeat enemies
for their dreams and friends, it's like seeing us unwilling to be outdone in reality. Aren't those bosses in anime just
like the things that bring us pressure in reality When we see anime protagonists hitting them one after another, it's
like we're putting all the pressure on ourselves, and we feel exhilarated(畅快淋漓).
In recent years, the rapidly rise popularity of anime games such as Genshin Impact(原神) and Love of
Light and Night(光与夜之恋) has certainly brought a rich side to the life of the current young generation. Luo
Xiang once said: "Paper people are virtual, and after a long time in the virtual story, they are unwilling to enter the
real story." It is normal to embrace anime cultural , but we still need to have expectations for the future and believe
in our youth and dreams.
29.What is the function of the first paragraph
A.To enhance people's awareness of anime culture.
B.To persuade people stop contacting anime culture.
C.To lead the deeper description of the anime trend.
D.To arise reader's love to anime culture.
30.What is the seniors' view of anime
A.Unbearable. B.Negative.
C.awful. D.wonderful.
31.What are the reasons why young people like anime drama
A.Young people cannot bear the enormous pressure of house loans.
B.Young people are often oppressed by their parents and elders.
C.Young people have lost confidence and hope in the current reality of life.
D.Young people have found their dream selves through the characters.
32.What can we infer from what Luo Xiang put in the article
A.We cannot treat the virtual world as an Eden to escape real-life problems.
B.The current world is too false and not worth our time to pay attention to.
C.In order to let people return to reality, all anime games should be banned.
D.The anime world is as important as the real world.

9(. 24-25 高三上·江西·阶段练习)Research backs up the claim that anxiety can lead to anger. Jesse Cougle,
a professor of psychology at Florida State University, and his team studied the frequency of aggression across
several different anxiety disorders, according to research published in the journal Depression and Anxiety. The
researchers found elevated anger levels across all anxiety disorders.
There are several possible reasons for this link. For one, the very experience of anxiety is a type of emotional
arousal that can be distressing. In other words, people with anxiety might have a tendency to overreact in general.
“When someone cuts them off in traffic or when there’s a perceived slight (轻视) or an inconvenience —
these can lead to anger because they’re already in a distressed and aroused state.” says Cougle.
Another possible cause might include the temptation to push aside the anxious feelings. “When you avoid
feelings, you don’t deal with them so well. Just avoiding anxiety —— not acknowledging it because it’s too scary
— can result in anger building up until it’s uncontrollable and it explodes.” says Schneier.
Take social anxiety for example. Those with seasonal affective disorder (SAD) tend to avoid conflict and
might go out of their way to comfort others. But they also expect others to act in a negative way towards them.
Feelings of rejection can lead to irritability (易怒 ) or behaviors that are aggressive: the exact opposite of the
timidity that one might expect of someone with social anxiety. For example, if you put a socially anxious teen in a
setting where they can’t judge another’s intention, like a high school dance, and when the teen returns, she scolds at
her parents for forcing her to go.
Another overlooked link between anxiety and anger involves lack of sleep. People with anxiety disorders
have difficulty falling and staying asleep. Overtime, this repressed tiredness can lead to an irritable outburst.
33.Which is NOT a reason for anger in the passage
A.Being anxious. B.Lack of sleep.
C.A positive way towards others. D.The attempt to push aside anxiety.
34.Which statement is true according to the passage
A.Inconvenience has nothing to do with anger.
B.If you are refused by others, you may get angry.
C.Schneier thinks avoiding anxiety cannot lead to anger.
D.When someone have difficulty falling asleep, they may overlook anxiety.
35.What’s the main idea of the passage

10.( 23-24 高二下 ·广东深圳 ·期末)A significant proportion of the American populace within the
working-age demographic are encountering challenges in meeting the financial demands associated with health
care, as per a recent comprehensive evaluation.
This study, which is the inaugural edition of the Health Care Affordability Survey conducted by the
Commonwealth Fund, reveals that a substantial 51 percent of adults falling within the age bracket of 19 to 64 years
have expressed that affording health care for themselves and their family is either exceedingly challenging or
moderately difficult. This observation encompasses 43 percent of individuals who are beneficiaries of health
insurance provided by their employers and an even higher 57 percent who have secured health insurance through a
marketplace or have opted for an individual plan.
Additionally, it is noteworthy that nearly one-half of the working-age adults who are under the Medicare
program and 45 percent of those who are recipients of Medicaid also admit to facing hardships in covering their
health care expenses. It is particularly striking that a majority, specifically 65 percent, of working-age adults have
indicated that the escalation in the cost of various goods and services over the past year has had a detrimental
impact on their capacity or that of their family to manage health care expenses.
The aforementioned survey, which is based on a sample that is representative of the nation and comprises
nearly 7,900 individuals who are 19 years of age or older, was carried out from the mid-point of April through the
month of July in the current year. This survey follows on the heels of another analysis conducted by the research
entity known as KFF, which demonstrated an upward trend in the costs associated with health insurance for
employer-sponsored plans as well as an increase in the contributions made by workers towards these plans in the
year 2023.
The newly disseminated analysis has further unearthed that 38 percent of the individuals who participated in
the survey identified cost as the primary factor that led them or a family member to either forgo or postpone the
receipt of necessary health care services or the procurement of prescribed medication within the last 12 months.
This includes 29 percent of those who are under the protection of employer-based coverage, 37 percent who are
insured through individual and marketplace health plans, 42 percent who are covered by Medicare, and 39 percent
who are recipients of Medicaid.
Furthermore, it is observed that more than six-tenths of the individuals who are devoid of any form of health
insurance have reported that they or a family member have had to delay or forgo medical care due to financial
constraints. Among all those who have reported such instances of skipping or delaying care, a considerable 57
percent have stated that a health issue has consequently deteriorated.
37.How does the article present Americans’ health care payment situation
A.By citing data. B.By giving examples.
C.By giving reasons. D.By making comparisons.
38.What leads to most working-age Americans’ difficulty in paying health care costs
A.Their heavy debt. B.Unemployment.
C.Higher cost of living. D.Higher health care payment.
39.What may the underlined phrase in the fourth paragraph mean
A.Declined. B.Climbed up. C.Remained stable. D.Kept uncertain.
40.What may happen to those who lacked any type of health insurance
A.They may get worse if they have health problems.
B.They are sure to obtain help from the government.
C.They may have to skip or delay any health problems.
D.They may not get affected with any diseases.

11.(23-24 高三下·安徽马鞍山·阶段练习)While stress is an unavoidable aspect of life, studies continue to
show too much stress can have a bad impact on both health and well-being. More specifically, excess stress can
lead to high blood pressure, increasing heart disease risk. With all that in mind, researchers from the Universities of
Maynooth and Limerick set out to better understand how reactions to stressful events impact our future health, as
well as if there are any factors that can play key stress-buffering (缓解压力) roles.
The research team suggests that previous research has shown that gratitude and affect-balance (balance of
positive to negative emotions) play key stress-buffering roles. However, up until now there have been few studies
examining the impact of these variables on cardiovascular (心血管 ) recovery from severe psychological stress.
Researchers chose to focus on this consideration, as well as whether or not affect-balance moderates the
relationship between gratitude and cardiovascular reactions to severe psychological stress.
The actual research portion of this project took place at Maynooth University and involved a total of 68
undergrad students (24 men, 44 women) between the ages of 18 and 57. The experiment featured lab tasks which
caused stress among the participants, while researchers measured cardiovascular reactivity and recovery in response
to the stress.
The ensuing results reveal that a state of gratitude predicts lower systolic (收缩的) blood pressure responses
throughout the stress-testing period. This means, researchers say, that gratitude promotes a unique stress-buffering
effect on both reactions to and recovery from severe psychological stress. The team also found that affect-balance
increases the effects of grateful feelings.
In conclusion, researchers believe these findings hold clinical (临床的) usefulness. There are many low-cost
ways to develop grateful feelings that can help promote improved well-being. For instance, one earlier study found
cardiac patients who make use of gratitude journals have better cardiovascular outcomes than those who do not.
Those earlier projects, in combination with these latest findings, strongly suggest that gratitude is a useful tool in
the fight against stress and poor cardiovascular health.

12.(2024·安徽淮北·二模)While conquering the world’s swimming pools in the late 1990s and the 2000s,
Amanda Beard had already included breathing exercises in her training. Several years after the end of her athletic
career, she discovered walking meditation. Today the seven-time US Olympic medalist practices walking
meditation in nature, around the house, or while walking the dog. It’s a daily practice with the focused mindfulness
of meditation that contributes positively to every aspect of her life, she says.
You don’t need equipment or a designated space to start. The idea of a walking meditation is to pay attention
to the way your body feels, noticing things like the sky, trees, tuning into all of your senses. This means you can
meditate “on the go” in the countryside, in the city, in your backyard, and virtually anywhere. A simple, 10-minute
walking meditation for beginners requires that you just start at ease. Consider what you hear, smell and see. Think
about how your feet touch the ground. Fully focus on these feelings.
A report in Health Promotion Perspectives also found that walking meditation can improve your balance,
adjust your heart rate, boost your mental focus, and help you battle anxiety and depression. “The benefits of
meditation are many,” says Dr. Schramm, a board-certified family physician and meditation teacher. “When we do
this over and over again, we train the brain to focus on only one thing at a time and this increases both our blood
flow and actual neuronal (神经元) changes within our brains.”
“The magic of meditation is to be able to help you connect with yourself; meditation shouldn’t feel a certain
way,” says Tara Stiles, a yoga and wellness expert. It’s a common mistake in meditation: People fear a wandering
mind. “A wandering mind is completely normal,” Stiles says. “Even experienced meditators aren’t sitting there
never having a thought, but when they have the thought they choose to guide themselves back to their breath
instead of getting frustrated.

13(. 2024·浙江台州·一模)Falcons (猎鹰) are powerful birds that may be trained to hunt in cooperation with
humans. The art of training falcons as “hunting dogs of the skies” is called falconry. It was developed in the ancient
Arabian Desert around 4000 B.C. In the past, falconry mainly involved hunting with falcons to supplement one’s
diet. But now, it has become the favorite sport and spare-time activities in the Arabian Peninsula.
Falconry includes three major processes: acquiring the falcons, training them, and hunting with them. Every
year, falconers begin capturing wild falcons in June and July, the migration season. The best birds to catch are the
ones with naturally nurtured hunting skills, aged one or two years. Once the falcons are captured, their heads are
immediately covered with a leather hood (罩). This is essential because they imprint as their master whomever they
see first after the hood is removed. Right after a bird is caught, the training process starts. It begins by depriving the
bird of food to make it easier to domesticate. The birds are taught to know their own name and respond to their
master when called. Arab falconers live with their birds day and night in order to build a strong relationship with
them.
By the end of October or mid-November, the trained falcons are ready to hunt in the desert. They have
excellent vision, 2.6 times greater than that of a human. They are also the fastest divers on the planet. One hunting
technique that sets them apart from other animals is that they can be trained to deliver their prey (猎物), without
killing it first. This is vital in Islamic culture because animals used for food must still be alive to ensure that the
meat is halal, that is, properly prepared according to Islamic law.
Falcons have played such a crucial role in traditional Islamic cultures that a number of countries in the
Middle East have made them their national bird. Falconry has grown so popular that specialist hospitals have been
established to take care of these magnificent birds. Falcons are even issued their own passports. They are the only
animals in the United Arab Emirates that are legally allowed to travel inside planes, enjoying a level of luxury that
some humans can only dream of.
49.What is the main reason for Arabic people to hunt with falcons today
A.To improve their diet. B.To serve as recreation and exercise.
C.To honor their national bird. D.To replace the practice of hunting with dogs.
50.Which of the following can be inferred from the second paragraph
A.Falconers don’t offer food to falcons in order to capture them.
B.Falcons are kept from seeing their trainers during the training process.
C.Wild falcons with natural hunting skills are ideal for falconers to catch.
D.The trainers’ names are written on the hoods covering the birds’ heads.
51.What especially makes falcons a unique species for hunting in Islamic culture
A.Falcons keep their prey alive until it’s presented to the falconers.
B.Falcons can be trained relatively easily for targeted hunting purposes.
C.Falcons possess vision well-suited for hunting in desert environments.
D.Falcons are capable of rapidly developing a strong bond with their handlers.

A.Inactive.

D.The threat to our health from long hours of sitting.

7.(2024·云南·模拟预测)Believe it or not, English has become the global lingua franca (世界通用语) in the
21st century.
As a consequence, the country started marching forward steadily towards prosperity.

8(. 24-25 高三上·重庆·阶段练习)Anime(二次元) culture has become a very common culture in our daily
Luo
Xiang once said: "Paper people are virtual, and after a long time in the virtual story, they are unwilling to enter the

in our youth and dreams.

A.By citing data. B.By giving examples.
C.By giving reasons. D.By making comparisons.

show too much stress can have a bad impact on both health and well-being.

14(. 2024·重庆·模拟预测)Meat, milk, cheese — just some of the things provided by goats. But now we can
also add fire safety to this list. As wildfires damage increasingly large areas of the planet each year, goat herds may
offer a way of reducing the risk.
Wildfires are made possible by hot dry weather conditions as well as a supply of dead plants that serve as
fuel. We may have limited control over the first factor, but we can control the second. Reducing the fuel load (易燃
物总量) lowers the probability of wildfires occurring, as well as the amount of damage caused. This is where we
can turn to goats to provide a solution. Goats are being used for landscape management in a number of places
around the world, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, Chile and various parts of the United States.
Goats have a very tough digestive system. Many kinds of plants that are poisonous to other animals can be
easily eaten by goats. It’s not just fully-grow n plants that goats are able to deal with: any seeds that pass through a
goat become non-viable and will not grow. Human clearance teams have to worry about getting to hard-to-reach
vegetation areas but goats don’t. They are skilled mountain climbers and can stand on their hind (后面的) legs,
reaching up to two metres to eat shrubs and grass that humans would struggle to reach. Because of this, using goats
can reduce both the possibility of workplace accidents and the amount of money spent on fire protection measures.
Goat herds have been found to clear some lands for a third of the price of human plants control teams.
Cost and safety aren’t the only benefits. Goats are quieter than lawnmowers and people usually prefer to see
goats grazing rather than litres of herbicide (除草剂) being sprayed on the land. Children are often fascinated to see
the goats at work and this provides an opportunity to educate people about preventing wildfires.
53.What is at the mercy of human beings definitely about wildfires

C.Because of their quite personality. D.Because of their diligence nature.
56.What might be talked about in the paragraph to follow
A.Why goats are useful. B.What has caused wildfires.
C.How wildfires are prevented. D.How goat herds are managed.
15.(23-24 高三·黑龙江·期末)There is a strong smell that comes off Ratna Raju’s farm in the southeastern
Andhra Pradesh state of India. The smell comes from a mixture of natural materials, like cow waste and untreated
sugar. The natural materials help grow and protect crops in an area often hit by extreme weather and heat.
Farmers like Raju say natural materials protect their crops from climate change because the soil can hold
more water. And they stress the crops’ stronger roots help plants deal with strong winds. Supporters say natural
farming is successful in the state because of government support. Now, these methods should be spread across
India’s agricultural lands. Without government support for natural farming, most Indian farmers still use farm
chemicals and fertilizers. That puts them at risk when extreme weather hits. Many farmers are calling for greater
state investment to help them deal with climate change.
Last December, a storm brought heavy rainfall across India’s southeastern coast. It flooded towns and fields.
Early studies showed more than 240,000 hectares of crops were destroyed in Andhra Pradesh state.
Raju said the rainwater on their farms flowed into the ground in one day. The soil can take in more water
because it is less solid than soil with farm chemicals. Soil with farm chemicals is dry. He added that planting
different crops throughout the year helped keep the soil healthy. However, Raju’s neighbor, Srikanth Kanapala,
said his farm was flooded for four days after the storm. Kanapala often uses farm chemicals and fertilizers on his
farm. And he said seeing Raju’s crops held strong while his crops failed made him want to learn about other
farming methods.
Kanapala expected a potential financial hemorrhage of up to $600 as a consequence of the storm, a sum that
constituted a significant economic burden for a farmer in India. “For the next planting season, I plan to learn from
other farmers to give up farm chemicals,” he said.
57.What drives the expansion of natural farming in India
A.The limited farms. B.The climate impact on crops.
C.The increased use of chemicals. D.The reduction of fertilizers.
58.What can be inferred about farm chemicals from paragraph 4
A.They help crops grow strong roots.
B.They enhance soil’s water absorption.
C.They ensure soil remains consistently wet.
D.They make crops less resistant to the storm.
59.What does the underlined word “hemorrhage” in the last paragraph probably mean
A.Loss. B.Increase. C.Benefit. D.Aid.
60.Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A.Chemicals: Harming Indian Farms
B.Storms: a Threat to Indian Farmers
C.Natural Farming: an Answer to Extreme Weather
