Lesson 2 Function and Pronunciation
I. Material analysis
Function内容解读：本部分为“听”的活动，通过听力的形式引导学生讨论沙漠的天气特征、生存环境，来输入重点词汇和功能句。首先学生通过图片讨论沙漠的特点，激活已有知识，起到预热话题的作用；然后通过听力对话，进一步了解沙漠的特征和生活环境。最后教师引导学生用所学知识以及掌握的词汇和功能句讨论更多有关沙漠的特点，并向全班展示。
Pronunciation内容解读：本部分为语音知识的学习，学习字母组合和字母ar, or, ir, er, th, ts, ds, w/wh, y的发音规律，根据读音规则和音标拼读单词，有效记忆单词。学生先通过chant学习读音。然后通过听和跟读掌握发音，并归纳读音规则。通过观察图片和朗读音标，拼写单词，做到听音能写，并理解意义，最后通过听音跟读句子，了解并模仿连读，体会意群。
II. Teaching aims
1. 根据字母组合和字母ar, or, ir, er, th, ts, ds, w/wh, y的读音规则拼读单词，做到见词能读。
2. 了解并掌握连读的规则，做到连贯地朗读句子。
3. 提取语篇中的主要信息，完成读后的表格填写。
4. 借助不同的数字资源或平台，搜索并学习更多关于景观名称及特点的知识。
III. Teaching procedures
课时教学内容概述
本课时是听力和语音课。 Function部分以“听”的活动为主，训练理解性技能。学生通过听对话理解对话的内容和意义，了解和掌握沙漠中的气候、动植物和人们的活动。Activity 1从观察、讨论沙漠中的图片展开讨论，帮助学生了解沙漠中的生活。Activity 2 、Activity 3为“听”的活动。在Activity 2中，学生通过听对话，回答问题，了解对话中王老师和康康正在谈论什么内容，在回答问题的同时了解对话大意。此活动为学习理解类活动。在Activity 3中，学生听后填空，进一步理解对话内容，教师帮助学生核实Activity 2的答案，帮助学生在巩固表达的同时，通过信息转换，以填空的形式了解对话细节要点。此为应用实践类活动。Activity 4为小组活动，让学生将听力活动中掌握的功能句和频度副词运用到实际情况中，结合自己了解的沙漠知识进行小组讨论和分享，为迁移创新类活动。 Pronunciation部分为本单元的语音学习。Activity 1的主要内容为chant，学生通过听chant，了解彩色字母的发音，总结读音规律。Activity 2为听录音，学习字母组合和字母ar, or, ir, er, th, ts, ds, w/wh和y的拼读规则。Activity 3通过读音规则拼写单词。Activity 4为听录音跟读句子，学习连读。

设计意图：通过free talk活动口头检测前一节课的教学效果，同时导入本节课的教学情境，激活学生的已有知识，为后续的学习做好铺垫。
Step 2 Listening & Reading 1. Listen to the conversation and answer the question in Activity 2. Read the conversation in Activity 3 and find out the main ideas. Read the conversation and complete the summary with a proper word. Then check the answers. 6. Read the conversation in Activity 3 together. 7. Step 3 Group work 1. Share materials on the features of different landforms that students got through the internet before class. 2. Work in groups. Discuss more about deserts and report in class. 3. Work in groups. Discuss other landforms and report in class. 观察小组活动中的学生表现，根据需要给出必要的指导和反馈。 观察学生在活动中运用所学语言表达景观特点及人类和动物活动的情况，给予鼓励和帮助。
设计意图：在迁移创新的语境中，帮助学生通过口头介绍沙漠的景观特点及人类和动物活动的情况，正确使用目标语言，学以致用。通过将所学语言知识迁移到其他景观的介绍，检测学生创造性地运用所学语言进行真实交流的能力和创新能力。
Step 4 Pronunciation 1. Read the chant in Activity 1 individually, paying attention to the pronunciation of the colored letters. 2. Listen and repeat the chant. 3. Perform the chant in class. 4. Listen and repeat the sounds and words aloud in Activity 2. 5. Read aloud and sum up the phonic rules of the letters： ar, or, ir, er, th, ts, ds, w/wh and y. 6. Read new words aloud according to the rules of pronunciation. 7. Look at the pictures and read the sounds aloud. Then spell out the words and check the answers. 8. Show more chants related to this theme and practice them. Pay attention to the pronunciation. e. g. The car on the farm goes far. The dog with a bark guards the yard. The birds with a chirp fly high. The kids with a laugh say bye! 9. Listen and repeat the sentences in Activity 4. Pay attention to the liaisons. 10. Read the sentences in Activity 4. Find out the rules of the liaisons. 11. Show more sentences. Read and practice the liaisons. 观察学生跟读、圈出所听单词及根据音标读单词和拼写单词的活动表现，判断其对读音规则的掌握和运用情况。 观察学生跟读和朗读句子的表现，判断其对 连读的掌握情况，必要时给予适当的帮助。
设计意图：通过听和跟读chant、朗读单词、拼写单词和学习连读等活动，培养拼读单词和流利地读句子的能力。
Step 6 Summary & Homework 1. Summarize the content students learned in this class. 2. Show the students the homework for the class. 帮助并引导学生总结本节课所学内容，查漏补缺，发现问题，及时给予帮助。
设计意图： 运用所学知识，进行总结，内化语言。
