I. Teaching Objectives1. Knowledge Objectives Students can master some English expressions for starting a conversation, such as “Hello!”, “Hi!”, “Good morning/afternoon/evening!”, “Nice to meet you.” and so on. Students can understand and correctly use these expressions to have simple conversations.2. Ability Objectives Cultivate students' oral expression ability so that they can use the learned English expressions to start conversations in actual situations. Improve students' listening comprehension ability to be able to understand conversations started by others in English.3. Emotional Objectives Encourage students to actively participate in classroom activities and enhance their interest and confidence in learning English. Cultivate students' cross-cultural communication awareness and understand social etiquette in English-speaking countries.
II. Teaching Key and Difficult Points1. Teaching Key Points Mastering English expressions for starting a conversation. Being able to use these expressions to have simple conversations.2. Teaching Difficult Points Correctly using different expressions to start conversations in different situations. Cultivating students' oral expression ability and cross-cultural communication awareness.
III. Teaching Methods1. Situational teaching method: Create real situations to let students learn and use English in situations.2. Communicative teaching method: Student-centered, through group activities and conversation practice, cultivate students' oral expression ability and communication ability.3. Task-based teaching method: Design various tasks to let students learn and use English in the process of completing tasks.
IV. Teaching Procedure1. Lead-in Play a video or audio of an English conversation to lead to the topic of this lesson - how to start a conversation. Ask students how they start conversations in daily life and guide them to express in Chinese first and then in English.2. Presentation Show some pictures or situations, such as at school, in the park, in the store, etc., and let students observe and think about what English expressions can be used to start conversations in these situations. The teacher presents English expressions for starting a conversation one by one, such as “Hello!”, “Hi!”, “Good morning/afternoon/evening!”, “Nice to meet you.” and so on, and explains and demonstrates. Let students read after these expressions, paying attention to pronunciation and intonation.3. Practice Group activities: Divide students into groups and let them start conversations using the learned English expressions according to the situations provided by the teacher. Each group selects a representative to present, and other groups evaluate. Role-play: The teacher creates some real situations, such as at the school gate, in the library, in the restaurant, etc., and let students role-play and start conversations in English. Game: “Conversation relay” game. The teacher first gives an English expression to start a conversation, and then students continue the conversation in turn with different English expressions until they can't continue anymore.4. Consolidation Let students summarize the English expressions for starting a conversation learned in this lesson and have group discussions to share their gains and experiences in the learning process.
