Unit 4　My Favourite Subject
第二课时　Section A 2a—2f
This lesson uses listening tasks as a means.Based on the previous listening task，this conversation introduces the process of three students discussing their favourite subjects in the form of dialogue，presenting talking scenes and language，and helping students establish a subject concept.This dialogue is talking about their favourite subjects and the reasons why they like them best.This lesson helps the students initially establish the sense of using conjunctions in paragraphs and complete a brief report on a school day or subject that the class likes，and explain why.
◆ Language Proficiency(语言能力)
1．Master the target language and inquire about the preference of subjects，such as “What's your favourite subject？” Inquire about the reasons with “why”．
2．Understand the dialogue that talks about subjects.
3．Realize some grammar rules about giving reasons.
◆ Cultural Awareness(文化意识)
By understanding the school subjects，students can speak out their favourite subjects and the reasons why they like the subjects best.It helps to stimulate students' interest in English speaking cultures and improve their cross cultural communication skills.

Develop students' logical thinking ability by learning the usage of conjunctions.

Be able to accurately identify sentence structures in conversations that ask and answer questions about the subjects and the reasons，and use the target language for role playing.

1．Be able to quickly and accurately obtain information such as being good with numbers through listening and reading conversations.

1．Teachers encourage students to speak more and express themselves in English according to their actual situations.
2．Make students have clear goals and apply the sentence patterns learned in this lesson to oral communication to enhance their pragmatic abilities.
Activity 1 Prediction(感知与注意)
Students look at the picture in the text and guess what they are talking about，according to the knowledge they learned before.The teacher can give them proper suggestions，and lead them to talk about the subject.There are three students，so there are three favourite subjects and reasons.Use the following questions：
What are they talking about
What's your favourite subject
What do you learn from the subject
设计意图：利用谈话引入主题，创设情景，激发学生的参与兴趣，鼓励学生表达所(不)喜爱的学科、以及(不)喜爱的原因。通过预测性任务，激发学生的思维，培养学生运用情景线索进行推理和预测的能力。
Activity 2 Listening(感知与注意)
Work on 2a—2c
Before listening：According to the instructions of 2a and Activity 1，predict what we will listen.With the help of the teacher，students will guess it's about the subjects.Let students stimulate their minds towards the listening.
While listening：There are three students in listening，and they are Emma，Binbin and Meimei.What are their favourite subjects？And why do they like them
Listen to the conversation for the first time，fill in the blanks and try to answer the questions above.Students can check their answers with their partners，and then they discuss in a low voice.Then listen for the second time.This time，students should focus on the problems they can't complete.After listening，the teacher checks the answers and the students correct them.Next let students listen for the third time.This time，students can check their tasks they did and pay attention to the words that link together.
After listening：Let students role play the conversation.
设计意图：帮助学生理解对话的整体内容，培养学生准确获取、组织和记录关键信息的能力。引导学生进行角色扮演式的听力对话，组织、学习和内化关键句型和关键语言，为进一步将所学知识运用到实际生活中奠定基础。这一阶段的学习活动引导学生总结和组织核心语言，通过角色扮演，使每个学生深入挖掘自己的角色，运用语言理解意义，促进语言内化，从学习理解过渡到实际运用，为将来的真实表达做好准备。
Activity 3 After listening(获取与梳理)
Work on 2d—2f
Group work：Let students work in groups(four students in a group)，and then explain 2d to the whole class.Next let students list all the subjects they have，and describe each subject with a descriptive word.
Let a student interview other teammates：
What's your favourite subject
Why do you like it
What other subjects do you like
After the interview，let them take down the results of the interview.Then let them write a short article about the results，just like the following：
There are four students in my group.They are A，B，C and D．A's favourite subject is…He/She likes it because it's…
设计意图：通过小组活动，使学生组织、学习和内化关键句型和关键语言，为进一步将所学知识运用到实际生活中奠定基础。这些活动将激发学生学习英语的兴趣，培养和发展学生的语言核心能力，有利于他们进一步学习和成长，理解意义，促进语言内化，从学习理解过渡到实际运用，为迁移创新做好准备。
Activity 4 Discussion and summary(内化与运用)
Get students to work in pairs to have a discussion in class.
Talk about the school day，the subjects and the reasons.They can discuss with the following questions：
Which is your favourite school day
What subjects do you have that day
What subjects do you like and why
Who likes the same subjects as you and why
Let students take down the answers while discussing.Then let them write a short report with the results of the discussion.They can begin like this：
I love _Friday_ morning best.We have a fun class then.It's _English_ class.It's _exciting…
Have a summary to go over what we've learned in class.
设计意图：引导学生运用所学的句型，讨论自己的实际情况，完成简短的报告和交际任务。提高学生运用所学语言的能力，为解决实际问题做好铺垫。
Activity 5 Homework(反馈与强化)
Listen carefully and read the conversation in 2a fluently.
Search for more information about your favourite school day and try to share tomorrow.
The teacher organizes discussions for students to share their favourite school day and discuss the significance and impact of the subjects or the teachers.Encourage students to apply the learning outcomes of this article to practical life，such as loving teachers，loving subjects.
