T:Good morning,everyone!Today we are going to learn a very interesting part of our unit:Grammar Focus.Before we dive into it,let's do a quick revision and warm up.
Ss:Good morning,teacher!
T:We have been talking about birthdays and special dates in our unit.Can you give me an example of a sentence we have learned so far about birthdays
S1:Yes,I can.“When is your birthday?”
T:Very good!Now,let's read some sentences together and try to find out the rules of sentence patterns we use when asking questions about birthdays and special days.

T:First,read the sentences in 3a silently and circle the question words you find.

T:Now,let's work in groups.Read the sentences with your group members and discuss the rules of using question words like “what”“how old”“when”“how much” and “how many”.

T:Who can share with us the rules you found for using “what”?
S2:We use “what” to ask about things or activities.
T:Exactly!And how about “how old”?
S3:We use “how old” to ask about someone's age.
T:Great job!Let's continue with the other question words.

S1:OK,let's start.What's the first question
S2:“What is your mum's birthday?”
S1:And the answer starts with “I want…”
S3:That's not correct.Let's check the question words again.The question is asking about a date,so we should use “when”.Now,try again.
S2:Ah,I see.So,“When is your mum's birthday?”
S4:Good!Now,fill in the correct question word for the rest of the questions.

S1:Yes,I found William Shakespeare's birthday.It's on 23rd April.
T:Excellent!What about International Nurses Day
S2:It's on 12th May.
T:Great job!Now,let's share if anyone knows any other special birthdays.
S3:I know Martin Luther King's birthday is celebrated on the third Monday of January as a national holiday in the USA.
T:That's wonderful!Sharing knowledge like this helps us learn more about different cultures and historical figures.

Group 1:We're talking about National Day.It's on 1st October,and there are parades and fireworks.
T:Great!How about CPC Founding Day
Group 2:It's on 1st July,and there are ceremonies and celebrations throughout the country.
T:Wonderful!Now,present your findings to the class.

Activity 6 Homework(反馈与强化)
Create a birthday card with English birthday wishes for a family member or friend,and ask about his/her desired birthday gift.
Keep a record of your shopping list for a week,including the items you buy,prices,and quantities,and describe the shopping situation in English.
  During the teaching process,it is necessary for the teacher to guide students to actively participate in classroom activities and create practical situations through which students can better understand and use interrogative words.At the same time,the teacher should pay attention to individual differences among students and provide timely guidance and feedback.The students can improve their language application skills and problem solving abilities while completing homework.What's more,the teacher should encourage students to engage in more English practice activities after class,such as communicating with native speakers and watching English movies,which can broaden their channels for learning English.
