As mountains go,1,642-foot Squaw Peak isn’t quite impressive. But its inviting views of western Massachusetts have misled hikers into becoming relaxed among its steep, slippery cliffs(悬崖),resulting in countless injuries and even deaths.
Henry Grant, aged 18,a freshman at Ithaca College, respected Squaw Peak’s record.Because of this,he stayed a good ten feet from the edge.He watched 15 or so other hikers enjoying the view;one hiker, around 60 and dressed in pink, was looking over the edge of the cliff with her husband.
After having a rest,Grant turned to continue on his way.Suddenly,a man yelled anxiously,“Paula! Paula!” Grant turned around. The woman in pink had fallen off the side of the mountain.

Grant called 911.He waited where he was for a while, but she kept trying to move, and every time she moved, she slipped a little more.Afraid that she might fall off the extension to her death,Grant crawled on all fours until he reached Paula.

It’s your nightmare—sitting down on the bus or train only to discover that your phone battery has hit the red.How will you check those important emails or post that funny Tweet you just thought of
A simple solution might be to charge your phone overnight,so it’s ready to go when you are,but as it turns out, this might not be the best idea.Experts have warned that sleeping by a charging phone could in fact be bad for us.According to David Gale,of Gale & Snowden,an eco-architecture firm, our nervous system operates at very low voltages(电压).
“Our brains use electricity to send messages to our muscles. For some people, the man-made alternating current that powers our phones can interfere with these processes,” he said. For this reason, some people may find it difficult to sleep near a charging phone or other electronics, reports MailOnline.
It’s also important not to place a charging phone on your bed or under your pillows when you sleep,as this can cause a major fire risk. This is because the battery heats up while the phone is being charged and sometimes it can get so hot that it catches fire.
According to Dominic Littlewood,a consumer affairs expert, you should instead try placing your phone in a plate when you charge it.“That way, even if your phone gets hot,at least the plate won’t catch fire. It’s going to protect you a little bit,” he said.
However, there aren’t only risks to you that need to be considered.Charging your phone overnight can also cause damage to your phone.Experts at PC Advisor don’t recommend charging your battery to 100 percent.“It won’t fatally damage the battery if you do a full recharge. But constantly doing a full recharge will shorten the battery’s lifespan.”

7.What is the advantage of placing your phone in a plate when charging

8.What do you know from the last paragraph
