第一课时　Section A(1a～1d)&Pronunciation
1．Talk about people's birthday dates and the ways of expressing dates in British and American styles.
2．Talk about the pronunciation of letter combinations for consonant phonetic symbols：/h/，/r/，/l/，/m/，/n/，/?/，/w/，/j/.

3．Students are able to distinguish some easily confused consonants，such as voiceless and voiced consonants，consonants with similar articulation positions，etc.

1．Students are able to spell and pronounce words such as months and ordinal numbers.
2．Students are able to understand and distinguish the differences between British and American date expressions，and apply them correctly in communication.
3．Students are able to talk about birthday dates flexibly and fluently in actual communication，avoiding grammar mistakes and unclear expressions.
Step 1　Lead in
1．Play Months of the Year song.
2．Show students different months one by one and ask them what month it is.
3．Show students a calender and ask them the dates.
(The teacher writes the time expressions on the blackboard：January，February，March，April，May，June，July，August，September，October，November，December，1st，2nd，3rd，4th，11th，20th，21st，22nd，23rd，24th，30th，31st.)
Work on 1a
1．Ask students to listen and repeat the words in 1a.
2．Ask students to circle the month and day of their birthdays.
3．Ask students to share the answers and let them learn something personal about their classmates.
(Students must answer with the sentence pattern：My birthday is on…)

Work on 1b
1．Ask students to listen to the conversations and match the people with their birthdays.
2．Ask students to share the answers and the teacher helps to correct their pronunciation if necessary.
3．The teacher summarizes the ways to express the dates.
(The teacher writes down examples on the blackboard.British English：2nd August/2 August.American English：August 2nd/August 2.)
Work on 1c
1．Ask students to listen again and answer the questions.
T：How old is Helen？What birthday gift can Teng Fei give his father？What does Peter want to do for Ms Gao's birthday？Listen again and find out the answers.
2．Ask students to share the answers and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.
3．Ask students to read the listening scripts and find out the key sentence patterns.
T：When we want to ask about birthdays and dates，we can use the sentence patterns：
—When is your birthday？—On 22nd August.
—When is it？—At 6 o'clock this evening.
Her birthday is on 12th June.
We can sing a song for her.

4．Ask students to recite the key sentence patterns together.
5．Choose several students to write the key sentence patterns on the blackboard.The student who wins will be given a prize.

1．Ask students to work in groups and find out their group members' ages and birthdays.Then line up from the youngest to the oldest.
T：How old are the members of the group？When are their birthdays？Now work in groups and ask about their ages and birthdays.Then tell me who is the oldest and who is the youngest.
2．Ask the students to give a short report about their discussion.
(Students must share with the sentence patterns：Lucy is…years old.Her birthday is on…)

Work on 2
1．Ask students to listen to a humorous conversation and repeat the conversation.
2．Ask students to notice the intonation in each sentence and mark the intonation of the last word in each sentence.
3．Ask one or two pairs of students to read the sentences and the teacher helps to correct their intonation if necessary.
