第三课时　Grammar Focus
1．Introduce special birthdays.
2．Know the grammar wh questions and the differences between how many，how much and how old.
3．Ask and answer the dates of birthdays with wh questions.

重点：
1．Students are able to introduce special birthdays clearly and accurately，including describing their special features and related experiences.

1．Students are able to accurately use how many，how much and how old.
2．Students are able to express clearly and completely when asking and answering the dates of birthdays with wh questions.
Step 1　Review & Lead in
1．Show students some pictures，and then ask them to make a sentence with each of the picture.
2．Guide students to review the sentence patterns that have been learned last lesson.
【设计意图】通过看图造句的形式导入新课，帮助学生对所学知识进行复习，同时引入主题。
Step 2　Grammar(3a)
Work on 3a
1．Ask students to read the sentences in the grammar box，and circle the question words.
2．Ask students to research in groups and find out the usage of what，when，how old，how much and how many.
3．Ask students to share their discussion(Summary)．
a．“What” is to talk about the things we do.
b．“When” is to talk about both specific time and any time period.
c．“How old” is to talk about a person's age.
d．“How much” is to talk about the number or the price.
e．“How many” is to talk about the number.
(When students share the answers，the teacher writes the rules on the black board.If necessary，correct their discussions at the same time.)

Step 3　Exercise(3b～3c)
Work on 3b
1．Ask students to fill in the blanks with the question words in the box，and then match the questions with the answers.
2．Ask students to share in complete sentences and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.
3．Ask students to read the sentences several times until they mater them.
Work on 3c
1．Ask students to read the passage and underline the dates of the special birthdays and share other special birthdays.
2．Ask students to share their answers in class and the teacher shows videos of the English Language Day and International Nurses Day.
3．Ask students to say something about the English Language Day and International Nurses Day.

Step 4　Speaking(3d)
Work on 3d
1．Ask students to talk about the dates and activities of these special days in groups.
T：When is National Day/CPC Founding Day/PLA Day/School Founding Day？What do people do on these special days？Talk about these questions in groups.If you know other special days，you can add more.You have three minutes.Go!
2．Choose three or four students to give a report using the information in the chart.
3．The teacher shows videos of National Day/CPC Founding Day/PLA Day/School Founding Day.
