第三课时　Grammar Focus
1．Talk about the abilities of different people or animals.
2．Know the grammar：modal verbs(can，can't)．
3．Introduce classmates' or friends' abilities with can/can't.

Learning Abilities●Be able to understand and use the two modal verbs can and can't to improve grammatical accuracy.●Be able to accurately understand and express descriptions of the abilities of different animals or people.
Thinking Qualities●Be able to develop logical reasoning ability to judge what an animal or person can or can't do by analyzing their characteristics.●Be able to compare the similarities and differences in abilities among different animals or people.
Cultural Awareness●Recognize that the abilities of animals and people may have different importance and evaluation standards in different cultural backgrounds.●Cultivate the awareness of respecting biodiversity and human diversity，and understand and tolerate the ability differences of different individuals.
重点：
1．Students are able to master the basic usage and sentence structures of can and can't proficiently，such as “A dog can run fast.”“A fish can't walk.”
2．Students are able to accurately describe the specific abilities of different animals or people and express them correctly using can/can't.
难点：
1．Students are able to distinguish the subtle differences and correctly use can and can't in different contexts.
2．Students are able to understand the special abilities of certain animals or people and describe them in English appropriately.
3．Students are able to flexibly use can/can't to talk about the abilities of animals or people in actual communication，rather than just mechanical memorization and recitation.
Step 1　Review & Lead in
Show students some pictures.Ask them to make sentences with can/can't.
【设计意图】通过看图造句的形式导入新课，引发学生思考，直接引入主题。
Step 2　Grammar(3a)
Work on 3a
1．Ask students to read the sentences in the grammar box and circle the verbs in bold.
2．Ask students to research in groups and find out the usage of can/can't by observing the changes of the verbs.
3．Ask students to share their discussion.(Summary)
a．“Can” means “be able to”，and it is a modal verb，followed by the base form of a verb.
b．In negative sentences，add “not” directly after “can”，and it is abbreviated as “can't”，followed by the base form of a verb.
c．In questions，put “can” before the subject.
(When students share the answers and the teacher writes the rules on the blackboard，if necessary，correct their discussion at the same time.)
4．Give students 2 minutes to understand the rules and try to memorize.

Step 3　Exercise(3b～3c)
Work on 3b
1．Ask students to match the numbers with the correct letters to make sentences.
2．Ask students to share their answers in class and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.
3．Ask students to remember some key phrases：climb trees，run fast.

Work on 3c
1．Ask students to complete the passage with the words in the box.
T：Linda is talking about her abilities.Read the passage and fill in the blanks with the words in the box.
2．Ask students to share their answers in class and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.

Step 4　Speaking (3d)
Work on 3d
1．Let students work in pairs to interview their classmates using the information in the chart.

2．Choose three or four students to give a report in front of the class.
