1.Name different clubs.

重点:
1.Students are able to clearly and accurately state the name of the clubs they want to join:art club,music club,science club,chess club,drama club,ping pong club.
2.Students are able to accurately describe what they can and can't do using proper sentence structures:—Can you…?—Yes,I can./No,I can't.
3.Students are able to distinguish some consonant letter combinations with similar but slightly different pronunciations.
难点:
1.Students are able to distinguish the subtle differences among different clubs to avoid confusion.
2.Students are able to accurately use various sentence patterns of “can” and “can't”,paying attention to the changes in person and tense.
3.Students are able to accurately apply the learned pronunciation rules of consonant letter combinations in actual words to avoid pronunciation errors.
Step 1 Lead in
1.Show videos of the introduction of different clubs.
T:This video talks about different clubs.What clubs can you see in the video
Ss:Music club…
2.Show pictures of other clubs and introduce them to students.
(The teacher writes the new words on the blackboard:art club,music club,science club,chess club,drama club,ping pong club.)
Work on 1a
1.Ask students to look at the pictures and match them with the clubs.
T:Look at the pictures in 1a.In what club can we do these things?Please match the clubs with the pictures.
2.Ask students to share the answers and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.

Step 2 Listening & Speaking(1b~1d)
Work on 1b
1.Ask students to listen to the conversations,write down what club each student wants to join.
T:Teng Fei,Sam and Lin Hua are talking about different clubs.What club do they want to join?Listen and write down the answers.
2.Ask students to share the answers and the teacher helps to correct their pronunciation if necessary.
Work on 1c
1.Ask students to listen again and complete the sentences with can and can't.
T:What abilities do Teng Fei,Sam and Lin Hua have?What can they do?Let's listen again and write the answers down.
2.Ask students to share the answers and the teacher helps to correct if necessary.
Work on 1d
1.Ask students to read the listening scripts and make a summary about the sentences related to abilities.
T:When we want to talk about abilities,we can use the sentence patterns:—Can you…?—Yes,I can.I can…/No,I can't.I can't…
(The teacher shows key sentence patterns on the blackboard.)
2.Ask students to work in pairs,make up a new conversation using the key sentence patterns.
T:What club do you want to join?What can you do?Make up a conversation in pairs.One will be a club leader,and the other will be a student.You can use the sentence patterns on the blackboard.
3.Choose three or four pairs of students to share their conversations.

Step 3 Pronunciation & Speaking(1~2)
Work on 1
1.Show students the consonant phonetic symbols:/p/,/b/,/t/,/d/,/k/,/?/,/f/,/v/.
(The teacher shows how to pronounce the eight phonetic symbols one by one.)

2.Ask students to listen to the recording and repeat after the recording.
Work on 2
1.Ask students to listen to the recording and mark the silent letters.
2.Ask students to repeat after the recording.
3.Ask some students to read the phrases and sentences.The teacher helps to correct their mistakes if necessary.
