How to use a dictionary.

Learning Abilities●Learn to find the words in a dictionary according to the alphabetical order quickly.●Learn to independently use the dictionary to find out the information of words.
Thinking Qualities●Be able to ensure the accuracy of understanding the word definitions and usages.●Be able to search and understand systematically according to the arrangement of the dictionary.
Cultural AwarenessBe able to identify the cultural differences between looking up a Chinese dictionary and an English dictionary.
重点:
1.Students are able to remember the alphabetical orders.
2.Students are able to find the words in a dictionary correctly and quickly.
难点:
Students are able to find the words in a dictionary correctly and quickly.
Step 1 Review
1.Ask students to do the exercises of this unit.
2.The teacher checks the answers and shows the fallible words or sentence patterns on the blackboard.
(The exercises must include the key and difficult points and fallible points.)

Step 2 Presentation
Work on 1
1.Ask students to read the dictionary pages on Pages 6-7 and circle the words in blue.

4.Ask students to find out the question:What can we know about a word in the dictionary
T:A dictionary can tell the meanings,usages,parts of speech and examples of a word.
(At the same time,the teacher shows the corresponding place of the detailed information in a dictionary.)
5.Ask students to choose one word in Unit 1 and find out the detailed information in a dictionary.

Step 3 Practise(2~3)
Work on 2
1.Ask students to number the words in 2 in alphabetical order.

2.Ask students to share their answers and the teacher helps to correct.
Work on 3
1.Ask students to look up the words in 3 in a dictionary.
T:Now let's have a competition.Find these words in a dictionary as fast as you can.Who will be the winner?Three,two,one,time starts.
