Greet students and ask about their interests and hobbies.2. Present the topic of school clubs and ask students if they have ever joined any clubs or or- ganizations. Guide students to discuss what clubs they would like to join and why.Step 2 Work on 3a1. Write some examples of sentences with can on the board and explain its basic meaning and usage.Examples:I can play soccer. Can you play soccer What can you do 2. Ask students to identify the verbs in bold in 3a and observe if they change form when used with can. Explain that can is used to express ability and it does not change the form of the verb that follows it.3. Read the sentences in 3a.Step 3 Work on 3b1. Have students work in pairs and complete 3b by matching the two parts to make sen- tences. Encourage students to create their own sentences using can and share with their partners. Monitor and provide feedback on students’ use of can.2. Check the answers.A fish can swim.A duck can fly.A parrot can speak.A dog can run fast.A cat can climb trees.Step 4 Work on 3c1. Guide students to complete 3o by choosing the correct words from the box to fill in the blanks.2.
