Lead-in. Share their homework in class and evaluate the works. Step 2. Presentation. Read Grammar Focus aloud and talk about the tenses or voices they’ve found. Work in groups and have a discussion about the usages of the tenses and voices based on the examples. Some Ss share their discussion results in class then. After that, do some exercises to consolidate the grammar knowledge. Step 3. Practice. Work on 4a. Read the conversation first to underline some clues. Fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets. Sa: Have you ever taken part in an environmental project Sb: Yes, I have. I helped with a Clean-Up Day last year. It was considered ... Work on 4b. Read the passage quickly for the first time to get the main idea. Sa: Saving the earth begins with small things. Fill in the blanks with the appropriate modal verbs from the box. Check their answers by reading aloud and explain their reasons. Work on 4c. Work in groups to have a discussion. One S organize the discussion. One S write the ideas down. One S check the mistakes. And one S give a report. Step 4. Conclusion. Let Ss show their homework about protecting sharks. Guide Ss to give comments on their works. Ask Ss to read the sentences in the grammar box and talk about the grammar knowledge. Provide some main ideas for them to choose: People can do big things to save the earth. Saving the earth begins with small things. Plastic bags should be forbidden in stores. Ask them to complete the passage then. After peer-check, invite some Ss to read the passage and analyze the reasons. Divide Ss into groups of four and let them discuss their ideas on environmental protection.
