Traditionally, we take the subway with our subway cards or 31 using QR codes(二维码) on our smartphones. But now, people traveling on the Beijing Daxing Airport Express subway have 32 new way to take a ride—they can scan the palms(扫描手掌).
To enjoy the service, people need to record their palm on machines in subway stations. Then, they have to turn on the palm-scanning function(功能) on their smartphones. Once they do this, they are 33 to go through the ticket gates without subway cards or smartphones. 34 they finish the travel, their smartphones will pay the money for their ride.
Many people welcome the new technology. They think it helps 35 to travel faster and more easily. They 36 take out their subway cards or smartphones in rush hours. What’s more, the palm-scanning technology is very 37 to people who sometimes forget to bring their subway cards. If the battery(电池) of your phone 38 out, your palms can get you into the subway station. Besides Beijing, some other 39 like Shenzhen also put the new technology into use in service in the subway station. Although we 40 use palm-scanning in other fields(领域) now, I believe it will be widely used in the near future, like paying in the supermarket or restaurant.

Electronic waste (电子垃圾), also known as “E-waste”, is used to describe the waste from useless electronics such as computers, phones, fridges, washing machines, TVs and so on. Most of these electronics are not often rubbish, but just given up. In 2019, the world produced 53.6 million tons of e-waste, and the world’s e-waste will reach 74.7 million tons by 2030.
Last week, Guangming Research Center made surveys among 1,000 residents (居民) in Xingfu Community. The surveys were mainly about different kinds of e-waste and how the residents deal with e-waste. The diagrams below show the results.
E-waste is the world’s fastest-growing kind of waste, and only a small part of it is collected and recycled. Some residents think they should recycle e-waste, because e-waste includes many valuable metals, such as gold, silver and so on. They say they try to repair some electronics rather than buy new ones. If you have a question, you may want to get a quick answer online. Some technology companies are working to make this come true by developing chatbots (聊天程序). They’re computer programs that can communicate with people by phone on some apps or on websites.
Chatbots can look up information, answer frequently asked questions and collect information from users. They can also be used for online shopping to help people decide what to buy.
There are two kinds of chatbots: open chatbots and closed chatbots. A closed chatbot may or may not use AI (人工智能) to understand messages from users. An open chatbot uses Al both to know what people want and to create a reply. Open chatbots are able to leam from people’s conversations and then improve their ability to communicate with people. This means that open chatbots can answer a wider range of questions, compared with closed chatbots.
One important advantage of chatbots is that they’re available all the time, even at midnight. What’s more, one chatbot can serve many users at once. This means that people can get answers quickly instead of waiting for the agent (代理者).
However, chatbots can’t take the place of human agents. Someone has to program the chatbot in the beginning and train them. Sometimes, open chatbots can’t give answers to certain questions. Besides, many people prefer speaking to a human rather than a chatbot.

59.What’s the difference between open chatbot sand closed chatbots
A.Open chatbots reply more quickly. B.Closed chatbots are better at communicating.
C.Open chatbots answer questions on more topics. D.Open chatbots don’t use AI to understand questions.
60.In which part of a newspaper may we find the passage
A.Sports Culture. B.Technology Communication. C.Nature Environment. D.Population Geography.
