单元目标 Theme : It’s about language learning Function: Talking about future plans and activities Structure: composite sentences with and, but and or Objectives: To be able to master the key words and phrases of this module; To be able to recognize the stress and read the sentences correctly; To be able to understand the conversation about a short-term learning abroad and can catch some key information; Can talk about some future plans; Can understand the passage about English course and find the relationship between paragraphs and the title; Can have a better understanding through learning something about courses in North America. Can improve students’ ability of over coming the difficulty and passion of learning English
单元内容 This module talks about taking part in summer course abroad, which is a topic that depends on various areas. So probably, the topic may be unclear for some students. The conversation in unit one introduces that Lingling is preparing for her language course in LA. Betty offers some suggestions. students should understand Lingling is excited and nervous about this journey both through her tone and voice. Therefore, teachers should summarize above emotion that students should behave logically and do everything as planed. Unit two is an advertisement about the course. It is done in many ways, such as course, teachers, accommodation and activities. It’s necessary to let students tell this convincing language from others. As China’s international status continues to rise, Chinese is becoming one of most popular languages in the world. Teacher can lead students to write about Chinese courses by learning how to write an English course. Thus, they have a better understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
学情分析 My students of two classes are in different levels respectively. Some of them can use link words well while others still have difficulty. It is or great necessity to use different methods to help students of different levels Fortunately, the topic can certainly draw their attention. They are interested in the topic about the different cultures. So I hope they can do well in this module as usual.

Teaching procedures: Ⅰ.Lead-in Show a video to students and ask them where it is. Show an introduction about LA, and them start the new lesson. Ⅱ.Prediction Present the first tip: We can predict the main idea of the passage from the title and the given pictures. Ask students to open their books and ask them where the passage learn English in Los Angeles comes from A. guide to Los Angeles B. information about English courses C. a story of life in Los Angeles D. a newspaper story about language courses 3. Encourage students to try to describe the picture. Ask them what they can find Ⅲ. Fast-reading Read for the main idea of the paragraph. Present the second tip: When reading for the main idea of each paragraph, pay attention to the first or second sentence in each paragraph. Let students match the main ideas with each paragraph. ①Invite one of students to share his/her answers; ②Ask him/her to try to find the clues(线索) and read them out. ③Play the record of these clue and ask students to imitate.
