教学过程
Step 1 Lead in 1. Have students sing the alphabet song and present the five vowel letters: Aa, Ee, Ii, Oo, Uu. 2. Present the task of this lesson: The sounds of the vowels in open syllables. (1) What are open syllables (2) How to pronounce the vowels in open syllables (3) Why do we need to learn the sounds of the vowels in open syllables Step 2 Presentation—What 1. Have students observe the words in the table and find out their spelling rules. All the words in the table are open syllables. There are 2 kinds of open syllables. One ends with a vowel sound that is spelled with a single vowel letter (a, e, i, o, u), such as “be”, “he” , “hi”, “no” and “mu/sic”. The other is also a single syllable with a single consonant followed by a silent “e”, such as “name”, “these” , “fine”, “home” and “cute”. 2. Have students think of some other open syllables. Step 3 Presentation—How 1. Have students open their books to page 13 and look at the table, first try to read the following words by themselves, and then listen to the tape and check or correct their pronunciation. 2. Have students summarize the rules. The sounds of the vowel letters in open syllables are the same as the sounds of the letters themselves. 3. Have students try to use the rules to read the words. Pay attention to the sounds of the vowels. Step 4 Presentation—Why Have students think about: Why do we need to learn the sounds of the vowels in open syllables Step 5 Practise 1. Have students finish part A on page 13. Read the words below. Then put them in the correct sound groups. Encourage students to add some more words into the different sound groups. 2. Have students finish part B on page 13. Advise students to try to read the new words first and then listen and check. Encourage students to think of more proper words and put them into the different groups. 3. Have students finish part C on page 13. Try to read the sentences first, and then listen and check. Ask students to tell the sounds of the letters in bold. 4. Have students read the following sentences. (1) Kate ate eight cakes Grace baked. I’m sorry for being late. I hate to be late. I won’t be late again. (2) She sees a bee in the tree. He eats much meat and ice cream. (3) Today is fine and nice. Let’s go out to fly our kites. (4) Rose likes ice cream at home. She rode her bike to meet with Joan. (5) You are so cute. I like listening to music. Step 6 Production Have students play a guessing game. Introduce someone and ask others to guess who he/she is, paying attention to the sounds of vowels. Step 7 Summary Have students sum up what we have learnt in this lesson. Step 8 Homework Compulsory homework: 1. Introduce one of your new friends to your old friends orally. 2. Preview Integration on P14-16. Optional homework: Search for more phonetic exercises on the internet.
