Who is cleverer
Mr Smith had a big farm. And he had pigs, chicks (小鸡), cows and sheep. He didn’t look after the animals, so Mrs Smith was very busy.
“There are so many chicks, dear!” said Mrs Smith one day, “I can’t look after them at all. Let’s find a girl to help me.”
But Mr Smith didn’t want to do that. “That’s easy!” said Mr Smith. “Mr White’s farm is just next to our farm. We can make a few holes (洞) in the walls and the chicks will go to his farm through the holes and eat his vegetables”.
“That’s a good idea!” Mrs Smith said happily.
But soon Mr White found it. He told Mr Smith and his wife about it. They said they would stop their chicks doing it, but they didn’t do that. At last Mr White thought out a way. He put twenty eggs near the holes one afternoon. And that evening, when Mrs Smith counted (数) her chicks, Mr White said loudly on his farm, “Oh, I’m lucky today! I got twenty eggs on my farm.”
Of course, Mrs Smith saw the eggs herself. And the next morning, Mr White found there weren’t any holes in the walls.A trip to a farm
It was Saturday yesterday. Our class went on a trip (旅行) to a farm near our school. We crossed the street carefully (小心地). It took us fifteen minutes to walk to the farm.
There were lots of interesting things to see. Farmer Rick told us about the plants and animals on the farm. Then he showed us around there.
First, we learned about all the fruits and vegetables on the farm. We picked (摘) some apples, oranges and tomatoes. I ate one tomato. It was very delicious!
Next, we went to see the chickens. Farmer Rick taught us to feed them some food. Oh, a little duck was living with these chickens!
Our last stop was to see the worms (蠕虫). These worms have an important job on the farm. They help to make the dirt (松土) healthy and then farmers use it to grow healthy plants.
We learned so much from our visit to the farm. And we had lots of fun!A little deer
There was a little deer Nick. He was lost in the woods (树林). He spent many days looking for his family, but he couldn’t find it. Nick later went into a farmer’s yard. The farmer’s dog Max ran to Nick. The farmer and all the animals there looked at the little deer. Nick told them he was lost. “You can stay here if you want,” said Max. They soon became friends.
One day, when Nick was playing with Max near a pool, he saw four deer. It was his family! Nick was so excited.
Nick’s family was very happy. They told Nick that they were going back to the woods. All the animals and the farmer were sad, but they knew Nick should stay with his own family. Before Nick left, the farmer put a tag (牌子) on Nick’s neck. The tag read “Nick”. In this way everyone would recognize (认出) their little friend.
