单元内容分析
Analysis of the Unit Unit Theme: Activities in months The theme of this unit is about activities in each month, which belongs to the categories of human and himself, human and society and human and nature. This unit is concerned with the theme group of life and learning and interpersonal communication. The learning of this unit is closely related to the big task about “my school/ life calendar”. The big task can be divided into four sub-tasks “Know the 12 months. Know the activities in each month. Know how to make good activity plans. Know the nature beauty and enjoy the colorful life”. Students will learn how to describe school/ life calendar by using the sentence pattern “ When is ... It’s in ... I’ll/ We’ll ...” Students will learn to realize and enjoy the colorful life by making and describing their proper activity plans according to their calendars with each other. Thematic Meaning: Students can learn to care about school calendar which contains the ‘big events’ through their learning of the 12 months in a year. After this unit learning, students will firstly be able to know and enjoy the colorful activities in each month and different festival cultures between countries. Then they will try to make their own calendars with the five elements for the consciousness ‘ Early planning is always good.’

What: The teaching content is B Read and write, which is taken from Unit 3 My school calendar from PEP Book 6. Mike’s school will have an English party. In order to invite students to take part in the party, here comes an invitation. Students will be familiar with ‘the invitation’ with the basic elements and try to write their own invitations or activity plans. Why: Through the invitation of the English party, Ss are quite interested in the 5 elements which a party should contain. And it’s the extension of the first two lessons, which is to make a proper plan of an activity. Also, it is the preparation part for C Story time which refers to the consciousness of ‘ Early planning is always good.’ How: It is an invitation which refers to the reading& writing lesson. The invitation is about an English party with the five elements ‘when, where, what, who, how’. Students will try to make their own invitations for colorful activities and form the consciousness of being friendly to others.

Analysis of the Students Topic Recognition: In terms of topic, students have recognized the topics about clock time and seasons with proper activities in Unit 1 and Unit 2, the 12 months with colorful activities in Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 in this unit. Language Basis: Students have mastered the 12 months with different Days or Festivals. Moreover, they have mastered the sentence pattern ‘When is ... It’s in ... I’ll / We’ll ...’ Learning Challenge: However, they can’t recognize the invitation well and maybe they’re unable to design their own invitations or activity plans well. Development Needs: They will comprehend what an invitation is with the reading strategies and organize their own invitations or activity plans with writing strategies.

Teaching Objectives Curriculum Goal:According to the New English Curriculum Standard (2022 Edition), the ultimate goal of the English Curriculum is to cultivate students’ Core Competencies. General Unit Objectives:Students will be able to introduce one’s own calendar with colorful Days or Festivals in different months with the sentence pattern ‘When is ... It’s in ... I’ll/ We’ll ...’ to put ‘ Early planning is always good.’ into practice. Students will also realize the beauty our nature brings us and learn to enjoy the colorful days. Lesson Objectives:By the end of this lesson, students will be able to: 1. Comprehend the invitation with its basic elements ‘When Where What Who How ’; (Learning and understanding) 2. Make a new invitation or activity plan as the example of ‘English party’ in the text and share it with others with happiness; (Applying and practicing) 3. Learn to reply politely if you have got one’s invitation, arrange your own calendar properly and enjoy your colorful life. (Transferring and innovating)

Teaching Key and Difficult Points Teaching Key Points: Comprehend the invitation with its basic elements ‘When Where What Who How ’ and be able to read in correct pronunciation and intonation. Teaching Procedures Step 1 Pre-reading Activity 1 Watch and say: Watch a video and give a title for it: It’s party time. Activity 2 Read and guess: Read the information and guess what party it is. Activity 3 Think and say: What do you know about a party Design purpose: To create a relaxing atmosphere and lead in the topic of ‘party’ by watching a vivid video. Students can think and internalize the elements in a party and make preparations for today’s new lesson ‘English party’. Step 2 While-reading Activity 1 Read and circle: Read the invitation and circle what party it is. Activity 2 Read and answer: When is the party Where is the party Activity 3 Read and underline: What will they do at the party Activity 4 Read and find: Who will come to the party Activity 5 Read and infer: How will the English party be Activity 6 Listen and follow: Imitate and pay attention to the pronunciations of ‘sh’ and ‘ch’. Design purpose: To lead in the topic naturally and gradually. Students read and comprehend the text gradually with reading strategies through different activities. Students will also enhance their ability of cooperation and internalize what an invitation is and pave the way for the following language output of writing an invitation. Step 3 Post-reading Activity 1 Tick or cross: Judge the five sentences and correct the false ones. Activity 2 Try to fill: Try to fill in the blanks and check the blanks together. Activity 3 Think and write: What will you do if you have a birthday party Activity 4 Let’s check: Listen to obtain information, circle relative months and answer questions. Activity 5 Write an invitation: Design your own invitation or activity plan with the word bank. Activity 6 Talk in pairs: Make a dialogue and talk in pairs. Activity 7 Summary time: Summarize today’s content and appeal students to learn to write one’s own invitation and share it with happiness with others. Activity 8 Homework: 100% of students listen and repeat the invitation fluently and skillfully. And Try to read the picture book ‘Chicken Soup with Rice’ and feel the beauty of our colorful life. Design purpose: To improve students’ listening, speaking and writing skills so as to make a great preparation for language outputting. Then students practice the target words and sentences in writing activities. Students will also learn to write one’s own invitation and share it with happiness with others through sharing. In order to extend the input in class to output in real life, two assignments are to meet the needs of different students and consolidate what they’ve learned.
