Check their understand-ing of the characters and their tea-drinking habits.
Purpose To help students get a general idea of the text and identify the main characters and their tea-drinking habits.
2.To learn about tea culture in different countries. Step 3 Careful Reading 1.Read the passages carefully, focusing on the tea-drinking habits, locations, and the meaning of tea to Feng Tao and Emma. 2.Answer questions about the type of tea, who they drink tea with, where they drink tea, and what tea means to them. Assess students’ compre-hension of the detailed information in the text. Evaluate their ability to compare and contrast the tea-drinking habits and cultural significance.
Purpose To deepen students’ understanding of the stories and help them to identify specific details about tea culture.
3.To write your family story about tea and answer the question “What does tea mean to you ” in it. Step 4 Post-reading 1.Discuss the similarities and differences between Feng Tao’s and Emma’s stories. 2.Have students share their own tea-related family stories and answer the question “What does tea mean to you ”. Step 5 Language Points 1.Review and practise language points such as “not only…but also…” “as many as…” “more than…” and “It’s no secret that…”. 2.Use examples from the text and create new sentences using these structures. Step 6 Exercise 1.Complete the exercises that involve translating sentences, filling in the blanks, and creating sentences using the language points and vocabulary from the text. 2.Discuss the answers and provide feedback. Assess their understand-ing of the cultural significance of tea and their ability to express their personal thoughts.
Purpose To reflect on the reading and encourage students to share their own experiences and thoughts about tea.
Homework Required: Finish the exercises in your book. Optional: Copy the key sentence patterns learned today and note them down in your accumulation book.
