     Study of the Text                         
What: The text is talking about the beavers and their impressive engineering skills, along with exercises to practise grammar and vocabulary.
Why: The purpose is to improve students’ reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary skills, while also teaching them about the fascinating abilities of beavers and encouraging creativity through the voice-over activity.
How: The text uses simple sentences and vocabulary, including present continuous tense to describe the beavers’ actions and abilities. Exercises include filling in the correct form of the verbs and doing a voice-over based on the passage.

1.To use present continuous tense to talk about ani-mal behaviours. Step 1 Lead-in Show some sentences about animal behaviours in present continuous tense and ask students to observe and summarise the grammar rules. Step 2 Grammar Focus Introduce the structure and usage of present continuous tense. Use examples (I’m watching pigeons in the park now.) to highlight time markers (now, at the moment, etc.) and their relation to the tense. Step 3 Practise Complete the fill-in-the-blank exercise provided in the plete sentences with correct tense and pay attention to the temporal adverbial. Step 4 Summary Present a chart and make summary of the present continuous tense of assertive sentences, negative sentences, yes/no questions and wh-questions.(详见课件资源) Assess students’ attention to detail in identifying grammar patterns, their ability to summarise the rules of present continuous tense accurately, and their active participation in observing and discussing sentence examples. Evaluate students’ understanding of the present continuous tense structure through their correct application in sentence creation, recognition of time markers in context, and their capability to explain the relationship between the tense and the indicated time frames. Assess students’ proficiency in filling the blanks accurately with present continuous tense, their attention to selecting appropriate temporal adverbials, and their overall comprehension of the exercises through error analysis and corrective feedback.
Purpose These activities help students learn about animal actions using present continuous tense. First, they see examples and figure out the grammar rules. Then, they practise with exercises and finish with a clear summary of sentence types. This way, they get better at using present continuous tense correctly.
2.To realise and spread the import-ance of animals. Step 5 Practise A short passage about amazing animals is presented, students need to fill in the blanks using the correct form of the verbs. And they are required to give reasons when filling in the blanks. Then the summary of temporal adverbials is presented. Step 6  Pair Work Engage students in pairs to discuss other animals they know and describe their behaviours using present con-tinuous tense and useful expressions in the text. Assess students’ answers of this exercise and their according reasons. Assess students based on their active participation in pair discussions, proper usage of present continuous tense to describe animal behaviours, and effective incorporation of expressions from the text into their conversations.
Purpose Students can enhance grammar application and reasoning skills and further foster communicative competence and tense usage in a contextual setting.
Homework Required: Finish the exercises in your book. Optional: Introduce your favourite animals to your classmates.
