1.To learn how to introduce animals and talk about animal behaviours. Step 1 Lead-in Begin with a framework of animal profile. Students are asked to choose one kind of animal to finish the profile. Step 2 Presentation Present an example and guide students to analyze the structure and good sentence patterns.(详见课件资源) Students can have a general idea of what they are going to do with the help of what they have learned in this unit, and choose out one kind of animal. Students can follow the steps to learn how a good passage is organised and the basic elements of completing a profile.
Purpose Initiate students’ engagement by introducing an interactive task where they select an animal to profile, thereby stimulating students’ curiosity about different species. And the guided analysis aims to equip students with the necessary tools and understanding to emulate good writing practices in their own work, fostering their composition and analytical skills.
2.To explain the need to protect our animal friends. 3.To share the handbook in the class and vote on the best one. Step 3 Organise Ideas and Make an Outline Organise your ideas and make an outline. Then make a draft with the help of the outline.(详见课件资源) Step 4 Self Check Check your article according to the checklist by yourselves.(详见课件资源) At last, present the thematic meaning of this unit. “Protect animals, protect our friends!” Organise ideas with the help of language tips or useful expressions from this unit. Students can give themselves a score according to the checklist.
Purpose Guide students to organise ideas into an outline, draft an article and conduct self-assessment, and foster planning, writing and self-editing skills. The unit’s theme, “Protect animals, protect our friends!”, emphasises the importance of conservation and develops students’ empathy towards wildlife.
Homework Required:Finish the exercises in your book. Optional:Make your profile of an animal and share it with your classmates.
