     Study of the Text                         
What: This teaching material focuses on Christmas celebrations, covering traditional ways, potential problems, new celebration approaches, and the development of listening, speaking, and cooperating skills. 1.To talk about traditional ways to celebrate Christmas. Step 1 Lead-in T: What do you often do at Christmas How do you feel about it S: I usually…I feel… Step 2 Thinking What do you know about Christmas 1.It falls on the 25th of December. 2.It’s one of the most important festivals in the West. 3.Santa Claus is a popular character at Christmas. 4.The day before Christmas is called Christmas Eve. Through the students’ knowledge about Christmas, we can grasp their understanding of the festival.
Purpose This step aims to introduce the topic of Christmas and stimulate students’ thinking about it. By sharing personal experiences and discussing key points, it lays the foundation for further exploration.It helps students recall and express their Christmas memories.
2.To think about problems about Christmas. Step 3 Look at the Picture and Describe the Ways They Celebrate Christmas. Paper waste/Food waste/Wood waste/ Pollution  Through students’ description of the content of the pictures, we can understand their mastery of vocabulary.
Purpose This part intends to provide visual input to deepen students’ understanding of Christmas celebrations. Describing the picture helps improve their observation and language expression skills.
3.To find out new ways to celebrate Christmas. 4.To practise the skills of listening, speaking and cooperating. Step 4 Listening 1.Listen and write down the words in the blanks. Tip: shorthand—write down the first letters first. 2.Listen again and answer: How do people in the West have a green Christmas 3.Listen and complete the advice. 4.Listen to the conversation and complete the ideas. 5.Listen and match the ideas with the people on the right. 6.Listen and check for agreement and disagreement in the box. Step 5 Pair-work Practise the conversation with the partner. Think about the ways to celebrate the festivals or holidays. Pay attention to whether students can accurately say the answer when completing the listening tasks, and give them necessary guidance and feedback as needed.
Purpose This series of steps are designed to guide students to discover new ways of celebrating Christmas and enhance their listening, speaking, and cooperation skills. Through various listening tasks, students are exposed to diverse perspectives on Christmas celebrations. They also practise differentiating facts and opinions, promoting critical thinking.
