2. Free talk
- T: We have been in our new school for a while. Have you met many new teachers
- Ss: Yes, we have.
- T: What do you think of your new teachers Can you describe one of your favorite teachers
- Some students may raise their hands and share their thoughts. For example, a student might say, "My Chinese teacher is very nice. She always smiles and helps us with our homework." The teacher listens carefully and gives positive responses and encouragement.

(二)Presentation(15分钟)
1. Learn new words
- Take out the word cards of the new words one by one. For example, show the card “teacher” and say:
- T: Look, this is “teacher”. A teacher is someone who teaches us knowledge and skills at school. Say “teacher” after me.
- Ss: Teacher.
- Use pictures and simple sentences to teach other new words. For “patient”, show a picture of a teacher patiently explaining something to a student and say “The teacher is very patient. She is not in a hurry and takes the time to explain clearly. Patient means being able to wait calmly and not get angry easily when dealing with something difficult.” For “kind”, show a picture of a teacher smiling and helping a student and say “This teacher is kind. She is always friendly and cares about the students. Kind people are nice and gentle to others.” And so on.
- After teaching the words, play a guessing game. The teacher describes a word using simple sentences and gestures, and students guess what the word is. For example:
- T: This person helps us learn at school. They usually stand in front of the classroom and talk a lot. (Make a gesture of teaching.) What's this
- Ss: Teacher!
- T: Very good! Now, this word means being nice and friendly to others. When you are in trouble, this kind of person will always help you. (Smile and make a helping gesture.) What's it
- Ss: Kind!
- Then, put the new words into a short passage about a teacher's day and read it aloud. The passage could be like this: “My teacher is a great person. She is very kind and patient. She teaches us with care. She is always helpful when we have problems. She encourages us to do our best in class. I really like my teacher.” Ask students to listen carefully and try to understand the context in which the words are used.

2. Text learning
- Open the textbook to the page of 《Two great teachers》 and show the pictures related to the text on the multimedia.
- T: Today, we are going to read about two great teachers. Look at these pictures. Can you guess what kind of teachers they are
- Ss: Maybe they are good teachers. (Students may give various answers based on the pictures.)
- T: Let's read the text and find out more about them.
- Play the tape of the text for the first time and ask students to listen carefully and just listen, not to read.
- After listening, ask some questions to check their understanding of the general idea of the text, such as:
- How many teachers are mentioned in the text (Two.)
- What subjects do they teach (Mr. Liu teaches math and Ms. Li teaches English.)
- Play the tape again and ask students to follow the tape and read the text silently. While reading, they should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation, and try to understand the details of the text.
- Then, ask some students to read the text aloud paragraph by paragraph. The teacher corrects their pronunciation and intonation if necessary.
- Explain the key sentences and difficult points in the text. For example:

- Point out the differences between Mr. Liu and Ms. Li in their teaching styles and personalities, and ask students to compare and contrast the two teachers. This helps students to better understand the details of the text and improve their critical thinking skills.

For example:

- B: Yes, but Mr. Liu is more focused on explaining problems clearly while Ms. Li likes to organize activities to make the class more interesting.
- The teacher walks around the classroom and listens to the students' discussions. Provide guidance and correction if needed, especially on the correct use of the words and sentence patterns to describe the teachers.
- Ask some pairs to share their discussions with the whole class. The other students can listen carefully and add their own thoughts or questions.

2. Group activity - My favorite teacher
- Divide the students into groups of four or five. Each group gets a piece of paper and a pen.
- The teacher gives the topic “My favorite teacher” and asks the students to discuss in groups. They should think about a teacher they like (it can be a teacher in this school or a teacher they had before) and describe the teacher's characteristics, what they like about the teacher, and an unforgettable thing that happened with the teacher.
- Each group member should contribute their ideas and the group recorder writes them down on the paper. After the discussion, the group needs to summarize their ideas and be ready to present them to the class. For example, a group might say: “Our favorite teacher is Ms. Wang. She is our music teacher. She is very kind and talented. She always encourages us to express ourselves through music. Once, she organized a music competition and helped us prepare for it. We had a great time and learned a lot from that experience.”
- When each group presents, the other groups can ask questions or make comments. The teacher guides the discussion and encourages students to use English as much as possible to express their ideas. 1. Writing - A letter to my favorite teacher
- Ask students to write a letter to their favorite teacher. They should use the words, phrases and sentence patterns they have learned in this lesson to express their feelings and gratitude towards the teacher. The teacher provides a writing template on the blackboard or on the multimedia to help students organize their thoughts and writing. The template could be like this:

- Encourage students to be sincere and add more personal details and feelings in their letters. They can also draw a small picture or decorate the letter with some simple patterns to make it more special.

- Then, choose some students to share their letters with the whole class.
