Show some pictures related to money and ask students a few questions: Do you have pocket money How do you spend your pocket money Do you think it's important to be wise with money 2. Lead in the topic of the lesson: Be Wise with Money. Step 2: Pre-reading 1. Present the title of the reading passage and ask students to predict what the passage might be about. 2. Teach some key words and phrases that might be difficult for students to understand before reading. Step 3: While-reading 1. Skimming Ask students to read the passage quickly and find out the main idea. Check the answers with the whole class. 2. Scanning Give students some specific questions and ask them to scan the passage to find the answers. For example: How does the writer save money What does the writer do with the saved money Have students share their answers in pairs and then check with the class. 3. Detailed reading Have students read the passage paragraph by paragraph carefully. Explain some difficult sentences and grammar points. Ask students to summarize the main points of each paragraph. Step 4: Post-reading 1. Group discussion Divide students into groups of four and ask them to discuss the following questions: What do you think of the writer's way of being wise with money How can you be wise with your own money Have each group choose a representative to present their ideas to the class. 2. Retelling Ask students to retell the passage in their own words. Provide some key words and phrases on the blackboard to help students. Step 5: Language points 1.
