Analysis of material 1.The main content The theme is about the advantages and disadvantages on making friends online which is popular in students’ life. 2.The type of the text The genre of this text is an argumentation. This passage divided into four parts: making friends in the past and at present, advantages of making friends online, disadvantages of making friends online, author’s attitude. 3.The purpose of the text By understanding and analyzing the text, can not only arouse the students’ interest in learning English, but also improve their social communication.
Analysis of students Student status Merits: The students are the grade one students of senior high school, so it is easy to have some problems in adapting to the new environment and making friends. Students at this age are curious and active. They are eager to learn something new and interesting. Shortcomings: Many of them are shy and lack of vocabulary, which might make them not express themselves freely and correctly. Solutions: (1) Quote a song to help students get familiar with the topic of the article in advance. (2) Show some pictures about the ways the students make friends online and offline.
Teaching objectives Language ability: Ss can grasp the main idea of this passage and get the structure and logic of the text, understand the features of the essay. Cultural awareness: By completing the task, Ss set up self-confidence in expressing their opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of online friendship and establish a correct view on friendship. Thinking quality: Ss can practice their critical thinking by discussing the advantages and disadvantages of online friendship. Learning ability: Ss can improve their reading ability by fast reading and careful reading. By creating the situation, students do the practice to develop their comprehensive language ability.

According to the teaching design, the teaching of reading will be done in a flexible way. This lesson focuses on making friends online. Most of the students can involve in the class, but some of them still dare not to speak. The teacher should encourage students to speak more and gain more confidence from learning English.
