Show some pictures of different families and ask students to talk about what they see. 2. Lead in the topic of this lesson: family. Step 2: Pre-listening 1. Present the new words and phrases: handsome, kind, read a story, on the left/right, in the middle, etc. Explain their meanings and usage. 2. Have students look at the text and pictures in 1a, predict what they will hear. Step 3: While-listening 1. Play the recording of 1b for the first time. Students just listen and get the general idea. 2. Play it for the second time. Students listen carefully and answer the questions in 1c. Check the answers together. Step 4: Post-listening 1. Ask students to read the text aloud together. 2. Have students work in pairs. One student describes Lily's family member, and the other guesses who it is. Step 5: Production 1. Show some pictures of their own families. Ask students to introduce their family members to the class, using the sentence patterns and adjectives learned in this lesson. 2. Encourage other students to ask questions and make comments. Step 6: Summary and Homework 1. Summarize the key points of this lesson. 2.
