It’s very clever Step 2 Presentation Have students listen to the recording of the words in the table on page 49 and see the sounds of the letter groups in bold Have students read along with the recording and pay attention to the sounds of the lighter groups AR, OR, E A, OO, ER and work out the rules Have students do the exercises according to the rules they work out. Step 3 Practice Read the following words and judge if the letters in bold sound the same. If the pronunciations are the same, write down “S” otherwise, write down “D” Choose options with different pronunciations for the underlined parts. Have students finish part a on page 49 Step 4 Presentation Have students read the first word of each pair in part B on page 49, say the sound of the letter group in bold, and then try to read the second one correctly Step 5 Practice Have students practice seeing the phrases in part C on page 49.
