Step1 Lead-in Have students answer the following questions: What time do you go to school every day On what days do you usually have geography lessons When do you usually have Chinese lessons Which preposition we use before each time Expression will answering the above three questions Step2 prepositions of time We use “at” before time of the day, “ on ”before days and “in” before parts of the day. Have students read more sentences in the table on page 47 and work out the rules. Have students circle the nouns, numbers or noun phrases representing time in the table on page 47 Have students find out the rules according to the circled words We use “ in” before parts of the day, months, seasons and years, “on” before days, dates, parts of a special day and special holidays. And “ at” before time of the day and age. Have students go through grammar check before pages 142 and 143 Step 3 Practice Have students practice using prepositions of time. Have students circle the nouns, numbers or noun phrases representing time in part a one on page 47. Have students finish part one on page 47 Have students use prepositions of time to ask and answer questions A: When is children's day B: It’s on 1 June. A: What season is it in B: It's in summer. A: When do you usually chat with your classmates B: We usually chat at lunchtime. A: When did you start learning English B: At seven years old. Step 4 Adverbs of frequency Have students do the following exercises Show the school's weekly menu and have students talk about what they eat for lunch at school. Have students try to use adverbs of frequency to change the three sentences above, according to the graph on page 48. Have students look at the graph on page 48 and find out the rule. The adverbs are put in order of frequency, from low to high. Never, seldom. Sometimes, often, usually always. Have students go through grammar check on page 143 give explanations if necessary. Have students practice using the adverbs of frequency. Have students finish part B on page 48 according to the graph above. Have students look at adverbs of frequency in the test and discuss where to put each adverb of frequency. Before the action verb and after the subject.
