Step 2: Presentation 1. Present the vowel [e] and its pronunciation. Use the word "bed" as an example. The teacher pronounces the word clearly and asks students to imitate. Explain the mouth position and the sound characteristics of [e]. 2. Present the vowel [ ] and its pronunciation. Use the word "bad" as an example. Listen and circle (2b) Play the audio again. Students listen and circle the words they hear with the correct vowel. Check the answers as a class and explain any mistakes. 3. Listen and write (2c) Play the audio for 2c. Students listen and write the words they hear. Invite some students to write their answers on the blackboard and correct them together. Step 4: Production 1. Read the sentences (2d) The teacher reads the sentences in 2d aloud. Students follow and pay attention to the pronunciation of the vowels. Have students practice reading the sentences in pairs. Encourage them to use correct intonation and stress. 2. Make conversations (2e) Present some sample conversations using the words and sentences from this section. For example: "A: What's this B: It's a bed. A: Is it a good bed B: Yes, it is." Ask students to work in pairs to make their own conversations. They should use the words with [e] and [ ] correctly. Have some pairs present their conversations to the class. Step 5: Summary and Homework 1. Summary Review the pronunciation of the vowels [e] and [ ] with students. Summarize the key points and difficulties. 2. Homework Ask students to read the words and sentences in 2a - 2f at home for at least five times. Have students find five more words containing the vowels [e] and [ ] and write them down.
