文本分析：该部分活动1～2的词汇活动围绕本单元话题词汇和生词设计。活动3让学生在 与单元主题相关的语境中运用和巩固单元生词。活动4进一步拓展主题内容，让学生利用所 学语言就“人们如何获得成功”发表观点，深化他们对单元主题意义的理解。在本单元的词 汇学习的基础上，着重训练学生掌握派生法这种构词法。

学完本课后，学生能够：
1.掌握核心词汇crucial、vital、boil、botanical、property、liquid、substance、distinct、evaluate、 commit 等的用法。

Step1学习理解
活动一：感知与注意
1.Ask students to review the process of the discovery of artemisinin.
2.Ask students to write down the word that matches each definition.Then have them find the sentences containing these words in the text.(Activity 1)
Suggested answers:

②botanical:"In 1969,she...to find traditional botanical treatments for the disease,"

【设计意图】首先，引导学生回顺发现青蒿素的过程，引出目标词汇如：boil 、liquid.substance

活动二：获取与梳理

1.Ask students to read the passage about Lu Xun and fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words in the box.(Activity 3)

2.Ask students to read the passage again and answer the following questions.
