     Study of the Text                         
What: The section is a guide on how to establish a club at school. Find classmates with the same hobby first, and then discuss the plan for a new club, including the club’s name, activities, benefits, the meeting place and time.Use the provided outline to organise thoughts and formulate a plan. Lastly, vote on the best three school clubs and the best three presentations.
Why: This section aims to develop students’ ability to use their language and cultural knowledge to solve practical problems in real situations by having them make plans for school clubs.
How: The text contains the introduction(stating the purpose and basic information of the club), body (describing the benefits of the club, its operation, and activity arrangements), conclusion (concluding the plan and encouraging people to join the club), practice (putting the plan into practice, presenting to the class, and conducting voting) and reflection (reflecting on the learning process, deepening the understanding of the benefits of hobbies, and identifing areas for personal improvement).
     Teaching Objectives                         
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
1.find classmates with the same hobby and discuss the plan for a new club.
2.make a plan to start a new club by working together and using expressions and sentences in this unit.
3.share the plan in class and vote on the best three.
4.reflect on the learning process and identify areas for improvement.

1.To find classmates with the same hobby and discuss the plan for a new club. Step 1 Lead-in Show a picture of the music club: What beautiful music! Here comes the music club.Let’s see the players! Step 2 Form Groups Find classmates with the same hobby as yours and work as a group. Discuss the plan for a new club for the hobby. Think about: 1.the name of the club   (1)the basketball/soccer/…club   (2)the painting/photography/…club   (3)the chess/cooking/history/…club   (4)the science/robotics/maths/…club 2.what you will do   How do you make it attractive 3.the benefits of your club   Why do you start the club 4.where and when you will meet   Time:… Place:… Observe whether students can accurately use relevant language expressions during the class discussion, and grasp the learning situation on the content students have learned.
Purpose Through group activities, students are encouraged to cooperate with classmates who share the same hobbies, which helps to build team spirit and promote social skills.Students discuss and decide on the club’s name, benefits, activities, meeting place and time, which helps to cultivate students’ organisational skills and innovative thinking.
2.To make a plan to start a new club by working together and using expressions and sentences in this unit. Step 3 Organise Ideas and Make a Plan Organise your ideas with the help of the following outline and make your plan. Introduction: Stating the purpose of your club. Body: Describing the benefits of this hobby and explaining how your club works. Conclusion: Concluding your plan, saying again the purpose of your club. Observe whether students can participate in interaction and communication, and actively share personal opinions.
Purpose The step can guide students to carry out activities that go beyond discourse and connect with real life, so as to apply what they have learned.
3.To share the plan in class and vote on the best three. Step 4 Practise and Present the Plan Practise and present your plan to the class. Step 5 Vote Activity Vote on the best three school clubs and the best three presentations! Observe whether students can tell about the club’s purpose , name, members, benefits, activity time, place, and call on their peers to join.
Purpose Through voting activities, students can learn to assess and choose.
4.To reflect on the learning process and identify areas for improvement. Step 6 Reflection 1.After completing this unit, I understand more about the benefits of hobbies. Benefits of having hobbies: (1)They bring us fun. (2)They give us… (3)They help us… 2.To express my understanding, I can… use words and expressions in the unit to talk about hobbies: use there be to describe my hobby and the fun moments. explain the benefits of hobbies. *1=excellent, 2=good, 3=not yet 3.Identify areas for improvement. I still need to improve: Observe students report their own learning to the class and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching and learning.
Purpose Through reflection activities, students can deepen their understanding of the benefits of hobbies and recognise areas they need to improve, which helps them with their self-assessment and continuous learning.
Homework Required: Review Unit 2, organise your notebook, and clean up your problem book. Optional: Improve your club plan.
