     Study of the Text                         
What: The text introduces the hobbies of several well-known figures and guides students to think about their own hobbies through pictures and questions. It revolves around the topic of “Hobbies”, aiming to let students understand different interests and activities that people engage in for pleasure or relaxation outside of their regular work.
Why: It aims to inspire students to recognise that hobbies not only entertain people but also reflect personal interests and talents. It encourages students to explore and develop their interests.
How: The section starts with a task, which allows students to match people to their hobbies. The second task is to discuss the hobbies that students have and their thoughts. It uses basic vocabulary and simple sentence structures which are suitable for junior high school students.
     Teaching Objectives                         
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
1.talk about different kinds of hobbies.
2.find someone with the same hobbies.
3.understand the meaning of hobbies.
     Teaching Process

1.To talk about different kinds of hobbies.  Step 1 Lead-in Begin with a presentation of key vocabulary related to hobbies, such as “basketball” “violin” “guitar” “drawing” and… Put the words with certain situations. Step 2 Presentation Students are Required to match historical or well-known figures to their hobbies, which may require online searches for relevant information. Then check the answers: Lao She: Planting flowers Albert Einstein: Playing the violin Madam Curie: Riding a bike Step 3 Discussion Look at the picture in 2 and talk about the following questions: 1.What hobbies do you know 2.What do you think of them 3.What is your hobby Evaluate students’ know-ledge background according to their completion of the task. Observe whether students can accurately find relevant language expressions, and give them necessary guidance and feedback as needed.
Purpose These steps can guide students to think about their own hobbies through pictures and questions, attract their interests and help them master key vocabulary related to hobbies.
2.To find someone with the same hobbies. Step 4 Pair-work Assign roles to students and have them introduce themselves and their hobbies in the context of joining a club, similar to the examples given for the basketball club, the music club, the art club, the plant club, and the bike club. Checklist: Language: ★★★★★ Pronunciation: ★★★★★ Body Language: ★★★★★ Confidence: ★★★★★ Encourage students to listen to each other’s oral introductions and provide constructive feedback based on the checklist provided.
Purpose The pair-work can involve students in real-life situations, connecting with practical life. And it can stimulate students’ interests and make them eager to share their hobbies.
3.To understand the meaning of hobbies.  Step 5 Self-assessment 1.Review what have learned in this lesson and draw conclusions: Hobbies bring us fun! Hobbies make our life better! 2.Exercise. Observe whether students can tell the relationship between hobbies and life.
Purpose The step can guide students to go beyond textbooks, lead mainstream values, and shape their characters.
Homework Required: Copy the phrases of hobbies. Optional: Introduce your hobbies to your classmates or family.
