1. You’re supposed to shake hands.
be supposed to后接动词原形,相当于should或ought to,用来表示劝告、建议、义务、责任等。其否定形式为be not supposed to,意为“不应该”。
e. g. We are supposed to help each other.
= We should help each other.
= We ought to help each other.
我们应该互相帮助。
【拓展】expect作动词,意为“期望;预料”。常见用法有:
I wasn’t expecting a visitor.
I expect to see him tomorrow.
I expected my brother to help me carry the heavy box.

as soon as常用来引导时间状语从句, 强调两个动作几乎同时发生。
e.g. I fell in love with the house as soon as I saw it.

tomorrow. 明天我一有空就到你家来。
特别提醒:as soon as引导时间状语从句时,若主句用一般将来时,从句则用一般现在时。若主句为祈使句或含有情态词,从句也要用一般现在时。

e. g. Both answers are right. = Both of the answers are right.
两个答案都对。
They both showed great interest in Chinese culture.
他们俩都对中国文化表现出极大的兴趣。
注意:含有both的句子变否定句时一般不借助not,常把both 变为neither。
辨析: both, all, neither和none
both 指“两者都”, 作主语时谓语动词用复数。其反义词为neither。
all 指“三者或三者以上都”, 作主语时谓语动词用复数。其反义词为none。
neither 指“两者都不”, 后接of短语作主语时谓语动词用单数或复数均可。
none 指“三者或三者以上都不”, 后接of短语作主语时谓语动词用单数或复数均可。
e. g. All of us are interested in history.
我们都对历史感兴趣。
Neither of the twins has / have been to Beijing.
这对双胞胎都没有去过北京。
None of the people has / have known the news.
