英语中人名和表示有生命的事物的名词，可以加 ’s 表示所属关系，名词的这种形式称为名词所有格。
① 单数名词和不以-s 结尾的复数名词一般在词尾加’s，如：Andy’s pens; women’s clothes, a child’s dream, someone’s bag。
② 以-s 结尾的复数名词一般在词尾加’，如：the girls’ books, the boys’ schoolbags。
③ 两人或多人共有一件物品时，只在最后一个人后加’s；两人或多人分别所有的物品则在每个人后都要加’s 构成所有格。如：John and Mike’s toy; Lily’s and Kate’s schoolbags。
名词所有格的构成
如果是无生命的名词，多采用“of +名词”的结构表达所属关系。

the gate of our school 我们学校的大门
a friend of my father’s 含有“我父亲不止一个朋友”的意思，而my father’s friend 没有这一含义。

Family tree
A family tree is a diagram that gives a visual picture of how people are related. Older generations (代) are higher in the tree (at the top of the chart) while younger generations are lower in the tree (at the bottom of the chart).
Family tree
A family tree is helpful in understanding the more distant (远的) relationships (关系) in an extended family. An extended family includes family members like aunts and uncles, cousins, and a grandfather’s brothers’ families.
Look at the family tree and make sentences using possessive nouns.
e.g. Tania is Catherine’s grandmother.
Jim is Eric’s son.
Nick is Josh and Dorothy’s son.
Nick and Tony are Eric’s grandchildren.
Mary is Eric and Tania’s daughter-in-law.
