Students will enhance their sense of gratitude and cherish the food they have. 二、Teaching Key and Difficult Points 1. Key Points Master the key vocabulary and sentence patterns in the text. Understand the main idea and details of the passage about Thanksgiving Day. Learn the steps of making a turkey dinner. 2. Difficult Points Use the target language to describe the process of making a dish or talk about festival foods. Understand the cultural connotations of Thanksgiving Day and compare it with similar festivals in other countries. 三、Teaching Methods 1. Ask students to guess which festivals these foods belong to and have a brief discussion. 3. Then introduce the topic of today's lesson: Thanksgiving Day and its traditional food - turkey. Step 2: Pre-reading (5 minutes) 1. Present some questions related to Thanksgiving Day on the PPT, such as: Do you know Thanksgiving Day When is it celebrated How do people celebrate it 2. Ask students to think about these questions and share their ideas with their partners. Step 3: While-reading (15 minutes) 1. Fast Reading Ask students to read the passage quickly and find out the main idea of the text. Check the answers and summarize the main idea on the blackboard. 2. Careful Reading Divide the students into groups of four. Ask them to read the passage carefully again and answer the questions in 2c. Encourage them to discuss and exchange their answers within the group. Invite some groups to share their answers and correct them if necessary. Step 4: Post-reading (10 minutes) 1. Activity 1: Sequencing Show the steps of making a turkey dinner in a disordered way on the PPT. Ask students to work individually to sequence them based on the information in the passage. Check the answers and explain the process clearly. 2. Activity 2: Retelling Ask students to retell the process of making a turkey dinner in pairs. Invite some pairs to present in front of the class. Step 5: Extension and Discussion (10 minutes) 1. Show some pictures of different festival foods from around the world. 2. Ask students to have a discussion about their favorite festival foods and why they like them. 3. Encourage them to think about similar festivals and foods in other countries and share their ideas. Step 6: Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of this lesson, including the vocabulary, the text about Thanksgiving Day, and the language skills of describing a process. 2. Assign homework: Write a short passage about how to make your favorite festival food. Search for more information about Thanksgiving Day or other festivals and share it with the class next time.
