Following local footpaths, the route takes you through three UK national parks: the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
Cleveland Way.
You'll need nine days to fully complete this hike, where you can explore both the North York Moors and the county's world- famous coastline. Just make sure you allow enough time to properly enjoy spots like Roseberry Topping and pick up a gentle afternoon walk at Whitby's clifftop church.

For most people, graduation is an exciting day of the celebration of years of hard work. My graduation day. . . was not.
I remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had flown in from across the country to watch our class walk across that stage. But like everyone else in my graduating class, I had watched the economy turn from bad to worse. What I thought would take a week dragged into two, and then four, and 100 job applications later, I found myself in the exact. same spot as I was before. And the due date to begin paying back my student loans was creeping ever closer.
You know that feeling when you wake up and you are just consumed with fear Fear about something you can't control— that sense of approaching failure that remains over you as you hope that everything that happened to you thus far was just a bad dream That feeling became a constant in my life. And the most frustrating part was no matter how much I tried, I just couldn't seem to make any progress.
So what did I do to maintain my sanity (理智) I wrote. Something about putting words on a page made everything seem a little clearer—a little brighter. Something about writing gave me hope. And if you want something badly enough. . . sometimes a little hope is all you need! So I expressed my frustration into a children's book. And then one day, without any sort of writing degree or contacts in the writing world—just a lot of hard work and perseverance I was offered a publishing contract for my first book!
After that, things slowly began to fall into place. I was offered a second book deal. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with The Walt Disney Company and was hired shortly after.
The moral of this story is… don't give up. Even if things look hopeless now, don't give up. Things change if you work hard. Give it time, and don't give up. Things will always get better. Often all we need is the courage to push beyond the river.

Keeping your goldfish in a tank which contains plants could make them clever, according to new American research. Scientists at Pen n State University, in Pennsylvania, discovered that fish benefit from being in “enriched environment”. They believed that their discovery could provide a view on how to make fish successfully repopulate (使重新入住) oceans and rivers.
Professor Victoria Braithwaite explained that a lot of fish don't survive once they are freed into the wild. She said that now fisheries (鱼场) solve this problem by breeding (繁殖) huge numbers of fish in the hope that some will survive. The professor believes that part of the reason why so many fish die is that they are bred in “pretty boring” tanks where there is always plenty of food and they are totally unprepared for free. To test this imagination, Braithwaite bred 30 fish in two separate tanks.
One contained plants and rocks which were regularly changed to ensure that the fish would not become bored, while the other was empty. When the researchers placed the fish in a maze (迷宫) , the fish raised in the enriched tank made fewer mistakes when trying to escape from the maze. The performance of the fish from the enriched tank continued to improve with each experiment, and they learned to solve the maze puzzles much faster than the fish raised in the standard tank, according to the researchers.
They found increased expressions of a gene in a region of the fish's brain that is connected with learning and memory, a sign of increased brain function and growth. Braithwaite had concluded that interacting with the environment can influence gene expressions in the brain. “If you want to make the environment more interesting for your fish, change things around a bit, ” she said.

“WHAT CAN I HELP YOU WITH ” says a voice from an iPhone. It's Siri, and she's ready to follow your voice commands to search the Internet, text someone, or play a song. Siri is an example of artificial intelligence (AI) , or a computer program that can think. The way Siri thinks is very different from how a person thinks. She doesn't have a brain. Instead, she relies on code in a computer program to understand speech and answer questions. And some questions are still too difficult for her to answer.
However, AI programs like Siri are getting smarter and smarter every year. In2011, an AI program named Watson defeated two human champions in the quiz show Jeopardy! Computer programs can also drive cars, perform science experiments, and produce their own artwork.
Someday, artificial intelligence will most likely surpass human intelligence. Once this happens, computers will think, plan, and act at a level that human beings can't understand. In his book Superintelligence, Nick Bostrom writes, “As the fate of the gorillas now depends more on us humans than on the gorillas themselves, so the fate of our species then would come to depend on the actions of the machine superintelligence. ”
If a superintelligent computer program wanted to rule the world, Bostrom argues, it would easily do so. It could also wipe out all humans or just ignore us. He's not the only one worrying. In 2015, a group of great scientists wrote an open letter that asks anyone researching AI to proceed carefully. “AI has the potential to benefit society greatly, but our AI systems must do what we want them to do, ” they wrote.
