The“ no- mow(不割草)” movement is catching people's attention, and I've joined it after having the luck to see how beautiful a natural meadow(草地) can be.
Several years ago, I moved to a tiny town in Oregon. When we pulled up to the house where we would be staying, I took one look at what I saw as the overgrown grass. The sea of grass took my breath away.“ This is going to be a huge job,” I thought to myself.
I grew up in New York. My grandfather taught me how to mow our lawn(草坪) when I was8 years old. And I took care of that lawn until I left for college. Later, I bought my own house in Connecticut, and the house came with a small lawn. By then I had been writing for Audubon magazine and had learned how pointless lawns were. I wanted to build a butterfly garden and plant some plants. I was sick of mowing. But I kept the lawn, as I was concerned about the future resale value of a house without a back lawn.
Once I had spent several weeks getting used to Oregon life, learning the local culture and finally settling down, I realized the mead ow that surrounded my new home wasn't an untidy lawn, but one of the local types of ecosystems(生态系统). And in my first weeks enjoying my new favorite place in the world, I was pleased with the huge amount of life the me ad ow supported.
There are lots of insects, but that only means lots of healthy food for the songbirds that I now share my home with. Because of the birds, many insects are eaten, so I've not had any insect problems. Contrary to what many people expect from high grasses, I've found that I have fewer pests, because it is a balanced system. There are butterflies, vegetables and beautiful wildflowers. The mead ow is never the same. It changes from week to week because it's a living system.
24. How did the author feel when she first arrived at the new house in Oregon
A. Tired. B. Happy. C. Shocked. D. Interested.
25. What do we know about the author when she lived in Connecticut
A. She believed mowing was a normal part of life.
B. She learned how to mow the lawn from her grandparents.
C. She called on people to stop mowing their lawns by writing.
D. She thought the lawn could raise the value of her house.
26. How was the author's life in Oregon
A. She started enjoying the natural grass there.
B. She failed to make the“ no- mow” movement popular.
C. She felt sick about the untidy environment there.
D. She was busy improving the locals' living conditions.
27. What does the author mainly say about the meadow in the last paragraph
A. It provides a more balanced ecosystem.
B. It supplies many kinds of food to the author.
C. It causes many insect problems for the author.
D. It helps reduce the author's writing pressure.

While family fun is often connected with new and exciting activities, family leisure(休闲) spent at home may be a better way to find happiness, according to a study.“ That may be because when the brain is focused on new information, such as taking part in an unfamiliar (不熟悉的 ) activity with unfamiliar people in a new location, less‘ brain power’ is left to focus on the family relationships,” said lead author Karen Melton.
While research results suggest that all quality time together helps to lead to satisfaction with family life,“ all family leisure is not equal,” she said. The best predictor (预示物) of happiness for families may be spending quality time together in familiar activities inside the home. And that's great news for families who have little time or few resources.
For the study, researchers followed 1,502 people in 884 families in the United Kingdom. Each family taking part in the online research had at least one child between the ages of 11 and15. They answered questions about whether they took part in family leisure in the past year -- and if so, what activities ( from 16 types) they did, how much time they spent doing them and how frequently they did so.
The study showed that the expression“ The family that plays together stays together!” is not always true.“ Family members can also express stress and anger as well as pleasure during leisure time,” Melton said.“ The activities alone will not heal the wounds of hurting families.”
Melton noted that some studies support the idea that eating together is one of the best predictors of happiness for families, while watching TV is seen as less helpful for people's happiness. But families should question one- size- fits- all ideas..“ For some families, quality togetherness is having dinner together or playing games; for others, it maybe hobbies, videos, TV or music,” Melton said.“ At the end of the day, what matters is that we are social beings who want to belong to a group and have close relationships.”
28. According to the study, which activity may bring the most happiness to a family
A. Watching a movie at home.
B. Traveling to another city.
C. Climbing a mountain with strangers.
D. Attending a community event with neighbors.
29. What do Karen Melton's words in Paragraph 4 suggest
A. Family members always argue with each other.
B. Family members sometimes need some time alone.
C. Family leisure makes it hard to share your true feelings.
D. Family leisure can include sharing good and bad feelings.
30. What can we inter from the. last paragraph
A. Happy families often take part in creative activities.
B. It is important that family members have common interests.
C. Different families have different ways to spend quality time.
D. It is hard for some families to find the perfect family leisure.
31. What is the best title for the text
A. Family leisure can do good to your health
B. Fun at home makes your family happier
C. How to organize good family activities at home
D. Why we should spend more time with loved ones

After bikes and umbrellas are made sharable across China, some companies started eyeing the fitness market, so shared gym rooms have hit the streets in Beijing.
Unlike common gyms that provide large, open spaces for many members to share at the same time, the newly built shared gym rooms are small, stand- alone rooms for a person to use, often set up near living communities.
Every four- square- meter room provides a treadmill(跑步机), an air cleaner, a mirror, a television and an air conditioner, and users can let down the curtains for privacy. When exercising, users can listen to music, watch movies and check emails by connecting to the Internet by the screen fixed on the treadmill. But there's no shower.
Similar to using a shared bike, users can locate a shared gym room by a smartphone app, book a room in
advance and then need to scan a QR code for use. A refundable deposit(保证金) of 99 yuan is required, and users are charged 1 yuan every 5 minutes.
The shared gym rooms are created by Misspao, a Beijing- based technology company founded in July. Within several months since it was founded, the company has already raised over 100 million yuan. However, the idea of the shared fitness experience is not totally nascent. Last December, the company VRUN set up shared treadmills in office and apartment buildings.
The sharing economy is still becoming popular in China. According to Yicai Global, confident people are pouring millions into sharing start- ups. In March, the State Information Center published a report which predicts that the total value of China's sharing economy will see a yearly growth of 40% in the coming years, and it is expected to make a great contribution to the country's GDP.
32. What makes the shared gym room different from the common one
A. Holding one person at a time. B. Standing in the living zone.
C. Offering open spaces. D. Having some advanced equipment.
33. What do people need to do to use the shared gym room
A. Let down curtains for privacy.
B. Pay 100 yuan first.
C. Use a smartphone to book a room ahead of time.
