应用文答案:
Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Li Hua, a Senior One student. I have been offered the opportunity to participate in the summer camp of “National English Innovation Contest"! So I'm writing to inquire about the details of the contest..
Firstly, I'd like to know when it starts and how long it will last. I wonder where the contest will be held. I'd be obliged if you could let me know the procedure that I'll have to go through. Additionally, could you also tell me what I need to prepare in advance
Your early reply would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Yours faithfully,

续写答案:
I finally made a decision and called my parents into my bedroom. When my parents saw what I had found in the drawer, they were wide-eyed and speechless! Then, they read the papers carefully and were moved to tears. When they asked, “What should we do ” I said, “Let’s take it back to the store and find her family.” My father nodded with a smile on his face and my mother hugged me warmly, saying “You are my pride, dear.” I felt very delighted because I already knew right from wrong. We collected all the money and papers at once, put them in the drawer and rushed to the charity shop with it in the hope to find the owner as soon as possible.
Though surprised, the shop owner helped find the family’s telephone number. Within a few minutes, the family all came over. When I showed them what I had found in the drawer, they couldn’t believe their eyes. The parents had tears in their eyes. They were still sad about the lady’s death and the father had just lost his job. It was easy to see that my act of honesty gave them hope. They showed me sincere gratitude from the bottom of their hearts. In fact, I had never felt better before. No new bicycle could have made me felt as good about myself as I felt that day because I passed a very important test—a lost and found test of my own character.
听力原文:
(Text 1)
W: I’d like to get a pair of sports shoes someday. It’s getting colder these days and I have no suitable shoes for the autumn outing.
M: OK. We can go this Sunday.
(Text 2)
W: We should change our packaging. It’s goodbye to the old white boxes.
M: Right, and the new style
W: Well, we’re going to have just one “A” in black on a grey box, but in the same writing style.
(Text 3)
M: I was concerned about my dad. He’s in his 60s and he’s also a patient.
W: Sir, we have Senior Fitness Trainers at our center. They can deal with most of the elderly, even those with medical history. You can bring your dad along without a worry.
(Text 4)
W: You mentioned some young people were more stressed these days. Why is that
M: There’s so much pressure to succeed in life, both in careers and every day life. There’s a lot of competition and that results in stress or depression.
(Text 5)
M: If I want to get promoted, I must know about management. But I don’t think I’m able to manage the work and study in the meantime.
W: Then distance learning is a possibility. It saves a lot of time for you.
(Text 6)
W: Welcome to Habitat Hunters. You must be Joseph.
M: Yes, that's right. You said on the phone that I could come by at 2 pm. Sorry, I’m a little early.
W: No problem at all. In Calgary’s market, you have to move fast if you want a good apartment!
M: Actually, I'd settle for almost anything. I've been here for ten days and the hotel is ruining me. My father has me on a strict budget.
W: Please sit down here, sir. Let's talk a little about the place before we go and have a look.
(Text 7)
M: Good morning, Cecilia, how are you feeling today
W: I don't feel very well, Doctor Klein. Actually, I haven't felt well since yesterday afternoon. It began with a headache and a gradual sore throat. Now I'm feeling extremely tired.
M: Please open up your mouth and say “Ah...”. I need to check your temperature and examine your throat. Oh, my! I can see your throat is red and your temperature of 38.5 degrees indicates that you are running a fever. I'm afraid that you might have the flu.
W: What should I do, then
M: You'll need plenty of rest, and you should drink fluids frequently. I'll give you the medicine for three days. And remember to rest at home before the fever breaks. You don't want to risk getting your colleagues sick as well.
W: Okay.
(Text 8)
W: Eric, how did you start your own sandwich business
M: Well, I planned to train as a journalist at first, but I got an office job unexpectedly. There were no places to buy a cheap snack near where I worked, so I noticed the business opportunity and started immediately.
W: How did you finance the business
M: I began in a very small way! So I didn’t need a loan from the bank. I used to fill a basket with sandwiches and sell them in local offices. The small money I’d saved bought the first ingredients, and that got me started.
W: Very low risk! When did you employ Liam, then
M: Employ no! l couldn't afford wages. Liam had a steady job then, but he hated it. When I asked him to join the business, he seemed interested, so he took over the deliveries temporarily. Later he enjoyed it so much that he decided to give up his proper job and take a risk with me.
(Text 9)
W: Ricky, you weren’t in psychology class yesterday. You didn’t even show up for your favorite debate competition.
M: My elder sister was getting married yesterday, so I didn't go to school. Would you mind telling me what I missed in class
W: Sure thing. Professor Jones assigned us new tasks. Each of us should choose a topic from the textbook and research it.
M: Could you tell me the specific requirements
W: Sure. We need to find scientific research that supports our ideas as our references. They can be from the case studies we discussed in class.
M: Have you decided what you' re going to do
W: Yeah, I'm going to do facial recognition. I've already found some usable experiments in scientific journals.
M: Great idea! I'm considering writing about the animal behavior we talked about in class. There is lots of stuff about it on the Internet!
(Text 10)
I wasn’t someone who would shake at the thought of flying a plane. I was actually quite looking forward to it when my family bought me the “flying experience day”. I researched it online. Surprisingly, the little aircraft I was going to fly in could only go up to 3,000 meters, which is quite low considering that big jets fly closer to 10,000 meters. There was a short talk from the instructor about safety and the controls. My parents were amazed that something like that was available for teenagers like me, but I’m pleased it was. On the day, I was nervous, but my instructor was very calm and she took the controls as we took off. It only took two minutes for the aircraft to get high up. Even though we were flying at a high speed, I could hardly tell we were moving when I looked down. I'm now so into flying that I'm considering it as a career. I'll need to become qualified, of course. The company that organizes experience days keeps sending me emails about train driving and other things, but I only want more of one kind of experience now!鞍山一中 27 届高一上第一次月考

A common claim states that a sheet of paper cannot be folded in half more than seven
times. But is this true
In 2002, Britney Gallivan, then a junior in high school in Pomona, California, folded a
single piece of paper in half 12 times. She currently holds the Guinness World Record for th
e most times to f old a sheet of paper in half.
The ins piration that led Gallivan to accomplish this was an extra- credit challenge in
math class to f old anything in half 12 times. Her teacher asked the students to f old somethi
ng thicker: a piece of paper.
Gallivan said“ It was very frustrating, as I had many unsuccessful attempts at trying to
f old different papers in half. I began to question if folding paper in half more than eight tim
es could be impossible.” However, Gallivan recalled,“I knew I needed to understand what w
as limiting the folding progression.”
The equations(方程式) that Gallivan came up with calculated how many times a sheet
of paper could be folded. She found that in order to f old many times, a long thin sheet is nee
ded — the more a sheet is folded, the thicker the resulting stack becomes, and once the stack
becomes thicker than it is long, there is nothing left to fold. She finally set her record with a s
heet of tissue paper she found online that was 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) — more than three- q
uarters of a mile, or over a kilometer long, Guinness World Records noted.
“ Working on the problem took a large amount of time and effort,” Gallivan said.“ As f
rustrating as it was at times, I learned an immense amount from the experience, which has be
en valuable to me throughout my life in more capacities than one would expect.”
Since Gallivan set her record, others have made claims of folding a sheet of paper mor
e than 12 times.“I anticipate that my current record will be broken,”

Gallivan said.
24. What inspired Gallivan to accept the challenge
A. Peer pressure. B. Mathematic s anxiety.
C. Academic requirement. D. Guinness World Records.
25. Under what circumstances is it impossible to f old a paper in half more times
A. The stack is as thick as it's long.
B. The paper is neither long nor thin.
C. The stack is thicker than it's long.
D. The paper is longer than it's thick.
26. What can we learn about Gallivan's efforts
A. It's risky. B. It's fruitless.
C. It's meaningless. D. It's energy- consuming.
27. What does the underlined word“ anticipate” in the last paragraph mean
A. organize B. impress C. expect D. intend

English language learning and teaching are more than language rules and ph
onetics (语音学). Language learners who pay no attention to cultural background
s seem to meet many difficulties in understanding what native speakers mean. Cu
ltural education makes the process easier.
It was during the 1960s when language experts began to place cultural educa
tion at the forefront of language learning. In 1974, teachers started to introduce it
into the English language learning classroom. In the 1990s, Michael Byram and C
arol Morgan published a report, which showed the importance of knowing the lea
rners’ cultural backgrounds when teachers taught their students to study a foreign
language.
If spoken story- telling is common in a student's cultural tradition, reading a
text may be a little bit difficult. So if the language teacher is familiar with the cult
ural tradition of this student, he or she may consider the student's reading trouble
as not a learning problem but a result of cultural differences.
There are many cultural differences affecting English language learning. The
most obvious one is the native language itself. A student who follows basic langu
age and grammar rules from his or her native language will have trouble learning
English. Another cultural influence is learning or teaching style. All of these may
cause different learning results.
Teachers should be educated in many kinds of instructions that could meet e
very student's needs. Classroom time should focus on understandable cultural edu
cation. Lessons about body language, eye contact and conversational language sh
ould also be the most important parts of the curriculum(课程).

{#{QQABJQ6EogCoAJAAAAgCUwE6CkIQkBAAAQgOAEAIMAAAyBFABCA=}#}
28. What can we learn about cultural education in Paragraph 2
A. It has quite a long history.
B. It faced a lack of teaching resources.
C. It worked better for English learners.
D. It has developed in theory and practice.
29. The example in Paragraph 3 suggests that language teachers should .
A. encourage students with learning difficulties more
B. help students realize the importance of communication
C. learn about students’ cultural language backgrounds
D. set a good learning example for their students
30. What is suggested about cultural education in English teaching
A. Organize colorful after- school activities.
B. Introduce more ways of communication besides language
C. Teach grammar rules through more reading and writing.
D. Find the similarities between English and one's native language.
31. What is the main idea of the text
A. Culture influences language learning.
B. Each culture has its features.
C. English teaching methods are changing.
D. People's learning habits decide their learning abilities.
D
Singapore’s tradition of eating out in places called hawker centres is now recognized b
y the United Nations for its cultural importance.
A hawker is a person who sells food or goods and advertises by shouting to people wal
king by on the street. Hawkers are an important part of Singaporean culture. Open- air eat
ing areas where hawkers sell their goods in low price are very popular. Famous chefs, such
as Anthony Bourdain and Gordon Ramay have praised them.
On Wednesday, a specialized agency of the United Nations, UNESCO, added the city's
“ hawker culture” to its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanit
y. Singapore sought to have hawker culture added to the list about two years ago. Now that i
t has been recognized, Singpore must provide a report every six years for UNESCO. The re
port must show efforts the city- state has made to save and support its hawker culture.“ The
se centre s serve as‘ community dining rooms’, where people from various backgrounds gat
her and share the experience of dining over breakfast, lunch and dinner,”UNESCO said.
In the 1970s, Singapore cleaned up its streets so the city moved street hawkers to new e
ating centres. These areas were part of an effort to improve the island. Now, the centres offe
r many different low- cost meals to local people and provide a

pleasing social setting. The 2018 film Crazy Rich Asians showed its stars enjoying meals at a
famous night market. Some sellers even received Michelin stars from a famous restaurant rati
ng system for their meals costing only a few dollars.
But, now the average age of the hawker in Singapore is 60 years old. Younger Singapor
eans now want to work in offices. They are less interested in working in small restaurants. The
COVID-19 pandemic(流行病) health crisis also hurt sales, preventing foreign visitors and loc
als from eating out.
32. What do we know about hawkers from paragraph 2
A. They are native Singaporeans.
B. They sell goods in the open air.
C. They like posting advertisements on the street.
D. They have good relationships with famous chefs.
33. Why is the film Crazy Rich Asians mentioned
A. To advertise the film.
B. To introduce the stars.
C. To show the popularity of hawker centres.
D. To explain a famous restaurant rating system.
34. What is the last paragraph mainly about
A. The difficulties faced by hawker culture.
B. The effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.
C. The future of hawke i culture.
D. The average age of hawkers.
35. What is the best title for the text
A. Hawkers support cultural diversity in Singapore.
B. Singapore makes efforts to promote its hawker culture.
C. UNESCO recognizes Singapore's low- cost food culture.
D. Singapore is preparing for the protection of traditional culture.
