2.用法:
(1)序数词前面一般要加定冠词the表示顺序,如:
Mary is the first student to get to school.玛丽是第一个到校的学生。
二、序数词
1.定义:表示事物顺序的数词叫序数词。
(2)序数词可以修饰名词,但当名词前面已有形容词性物主代词、名词所有格或指示代词等限定词时,则不再用定冠词the。如:my third job我的第三份工作。
(3)序数词前加a/an表示在原来的基础上“再一,又一”。如:
I must try a second time.我必须再尝试一次。
(4)表示编号时,用“the+序数词+名词”结构,如:the fifth lesson(=Lesson Five)第五课。
基数词变为序数词的口诀
基变序,有规律,末尾加上th;
一、二、三,特殊记(first,second,third),词尾字母tdd;
八加h(eighth),九去e(ninth),ve要用f替(fifth,twelfth);
以y结尾变ie,后跟th莫忘记(twentieth,thirtieth,fortieth,fiftieth);
若想表示几十几,只变个位就可以(twenty first,forty ninth)。

二、语调
