Present the topics in 3a to the students: music, class time, places to eat, accommodation, activities, and transportation to school. 2. Guide students to think about what questions they would like to ask for each topic. For example, for the topic of music, they might ask "Could you please tell me if there are any music clubs or bands at the school " 3. Have students work individually to write down their questions. Encourage them to use polite and indirect language. 4. Invite several students to share their questions and discuss as a class. Step 3: Writing a letter (15 minutes) 1. Explain the task of 3b to the students: they need to write a polite letter based on the questions they wrote in 3a. 2. Provide the example letter and analyze its structure and language features with the students: Introduction: introduce oneself and state the purpose of the letter. Arrival time: mention when they will arrive. Questions: politely present the questions written in 3a. Conclusion: express gratitude and look forward to a reply. 3. Have students start writing their letters. Remind them to pay attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 4. Circulate around the classroom to provide individual guidance and support. Step 4: Group Work and Peer Evaluation (10 minutes) 1. Have students form groups of four. Within the groups, students exchange their letters and read each other's work. 2. Guide students to use a checklist to evaluate their peers' letters based on the following criteria: Are the questions polite and indirect Is the letter well-structured Are there any grammar or spelling mistakes 3. Have students give feedback and suggestions to each other. Step 5: Self Check (5 minutes) 1. Present the Self Check exercises to the students. For the first part, have students complete the blanks with the given words and explain the reasons for their choices. For the second part, guide students to rewrite the sentences as exclamatory sentences and write sentences about their favorite festivals using the given words. 2. Check the answers together and clarify any doubts or misunderstandings. Step 6: Summary and Homework (5 minutes) 1. Summarize the key points of this lesson, emphasizing the importance of being polite when asking for information and the language skills practiced. 2. Assign homework: Ask students to revise their letters based on the feedback from their peers and submit them.
