Analyses of teaching materials The theme of reading for writing part is“Present an argument about space exploration”.Despite the great advancements of mankind in aerospace,there has been a controversy about whether space exploration is worthwhile.This part begins with this divisive issue,affording students the opportunity to read an argumentative essay to understand the different attitudes and viewpoints of people towards this matter,both to understand the cost of space exploration and to illuminate the profound impact of space technology on human life Ultimately,students are expected to articulate their personal stance on this issue, thus enhancing their critical thinking abilities.In the first paragraph,the author puts forward his viewpoint of supporting space exploration,and then discusses from three aspects:the achievements of space science and technology help human beings to fight against hunger;space exploration promotes the development and progress of human science and technology,thus benefiting human beings;space exploration helps human beings to think about and solve the problems of the earth.Based on the benefits of space exploration for human beings,the last paragraph of the essay re-emphasizes that space exploration is beneficial to human beings in both the short and long term.
Analysis of Students The subjects of this lesson have a solid foundation in foreign languages and have little difficulty in understanding the text.However,on the whole,they have limited knowledge of the theme of space exploration,and they do not have good writing habits in writing,such as omitting propositional information and deviating too much from the proposition;and have a poor senseof the correct use of vocabulary and phrases,and are not decent enough in transformations; and they are rather single in their use of correlative words,and some of them do not even use any correlative words,which leads to the lack of clarity of expression in their writing
Teaching Objectives At the end of this lesson,students will have: 1.Language ability:practiced reading skills and rewrote one part of the argumentative essay with suitable supporting ideas; 2.Cultural awareness:understood the price to be paid for space exploration and known some advantages and disadvantages about space exploration; 3.Thinking capacity:recognized the impact of space technology on human life and expressed their opinions with their own understanding,thus enhancing critical thinking skills; 4.Learning ability:analyzed the structure and features of an argumentative essay.
Important &Difficult Points: Students can analyze the basic structure and features of the passage,refine the main points of the argument,and learn about logical connectives;write a clear and persuasive argumentative essay
