1. How can you tell that Henry didn’t like pigeons
He said the other kids were lucky because they got penguins. And he put a sad face at the end of his first day diary.
He also used “have to”, “just”, “here and there”,“argh” to show his dislikes.

Language Points
1. They just knock around — for the whole morning!
(1) knock around意为“悠闲地度过",常指在没有明确目标或计划的情况下闲逛、消磨时光。
E.g.Last Sunday, Jack knocked around the town with his friends.
它们就这样闲逛——逛了整整一上午!
(2) 句中破折号用于对前面的句子They just knock around进行补充说明,增强强调的意味,表示耗费了大量时间。
2.They leave droppings here and there.
here and there意为“到处,各处"。
E.g.There are flowers here and there in the city.
He left books here and there in the room.
到处都是它们的粪便。
had better意为“最好"(had可缩略为’d,与前一个单词连写), 用于提出建议。注意: had better后面一般跟动词原形。
