M: It’ll have to be. We need to announce the new prices before the 23rd.
(Text 2)
M: Did you see the game last night, Jill
W: No! I spent the whole night studying for exams.
M: Why don’t you come to my house for a party after your exams That’s on Sunday.
W: Great.
(Text 3)
M: Another one of the letters I mailed last week has been returned. And I’m sure the name and the address are correct.
W: Didn’t you realize the airmail rates went up a month ago
(Text 4)
W: Wow! Your dad did a great job! He made the oldest bike in town look new. People may think your bike is more expensive than mine.
M: You know it goes faster than your bike now.
W: I don’t think so. Let’s race and see.
(Text 5)
M: Hey, Mary. The color of your dress really suits you. You take an interest in fashion, don’t you
W: Well, a bit, you know.

W: Great. Thanks Mike.
(Text 6)
W: Mr. Fredriks, I’m really sorry but it seems the order is going to be late.
M: Late What...
W: It’s just that something went wrong with the computer system last week and some of the orders were lost.
M: Lost ! What...
W: We’ve now recovered them and we’re working very hard to complete them. So ... we hope to have your order delivered next week. We are very grateful for your patience and to show you just how grateful we are, we’d like to offer you a five percent discount on the whole shipment.

W: Just so-so. I feel the food in the canteen is a bit too sweet. As a matter of fact, I miss so much the food prepared by my mom.

W: Really Me too.
(Text 9)
W: Where are you going with that carload of things
M: I’m off to the recycling center in town, near the train station.
W: It’s a lot of trouble, isn’t it, sorting out your rubbish and putting it into the different places
M: Not really. I sort it out as 1 throw it. I have a green box for plastic, and a black box for paper and a blue one for glass. You know, bottles and things.
W: I don’t know why you bother. Nothing will change. People will still throw rubbish and anyway, I don’t think that enough people recycle so it won’t make any difference in the end.
M: If everybody thought like you, nothing would change. But people are becoming more aware of the damage we have done to the planet. Most people, who understand that recycling works, want to help. Even my mom has started recycling, which is amazing!
W: I guess I might try it. I’m going to start by buying a reusable bag from the supermarket now, so I don’t use plastic ones.
M: That’s more like it! Come on, get in!
(Text 10)
W: Jessica Watson who was born in 1993 became the youngest person to sail non-stop around the world alone in 2010.The journey took seven months. During that time, she went through heavy storms and had to do repair on the boat herself as, according to the rules, she was not allowed to stop at any port halfway or receive anything that another person gave her. She was inspired to make the voyage after reading a book written by the previous record holder, Jesse Martin, who sailed around the world at the age of 18. Since completing her voyage, Jessica has written her own book called True Spirit.
Jordan Romero born in 1996 became the youngest person to climb Mount Qomolangma at the age of 14. He was accompanied on the climb by his father. He was inspired to achieve it after seeing a painting at his school which showed the seven continents highest mountains.
The parents of both Jessica and Jordan have received criticism for allowing their children to put themselves in danger. One sixteen-year-old girl called Janet Gordon lost five fingers from frostbite while attempting to climb Qomolangma two years before Jordan, and a Dutch court took a girl away from her parents and put her into state care to stop her attempt to beat Jessica’s record.

作文一:
Dear Editor,
I am Li Hua, a high school student from a city recently ravaged by Typhoon Bebinca. I’m writing to express my deepest gratitude to all the selfless volunteers and firefighters.
The destruction is overwhelming, with fallen trees and shattered glass crossing the streets, and many homes reduced to rubble. Our lives were thrown into chaos with the disruption of utilities. Yet, amidst the ruins, hope emerged. Our volunteers and firefighters have been working tirelessly, day and night, to clear the roads, rescue trapped residents, and distribute food and water. (They have become beacons of light in our hearts, guiding us towards safety and hope.) It is you who have breathed life back into our city, and it is you who have shown us that no matter how great the challenge, unity can conquer all.
Thank you once again, our heroes!
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
作文二:
The whole class turned to look at me. I felt my face turning red and wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole. The embarrassment was unbearable, and I couldn’t even bring myself to meet anyone’s gaze. After what felt like an eternity, the substitute teacher finally spoke up, breaking the awkward silence. He chuckled and said, “Well, that’s quite a lovely young voice!” The class laughed friendly along with him, and I managed a weak smile, wondering whether they were just trying to make me feel better. Finally, the bell rang and I walked out to have some fresh air.
“You know, the voice problem you met in class is normal,” a classmate came to me and said. “Everyone goes through it. It happens to most of us during this stage of life.” He explained how he had also experienced voice cracks and how he had learned to embrace them as a natural part of growing up. I looked at him in surprise, grateful for his reassurance. My initial embarrassment and concern gave way to gratitude and confidence. My classmates were understanding and supportive, just as my friends had been from the beginning. With their encouragement, I gradually became more confident in using my voice, accepting the changes that came with puberty without fear or shame.哈师大附中2023级高二上10月月考

Every tropical forest looks different, particularly in the eyes of an ecologist, and Peter Ellis has been lucky enough to visit a fair few. One in particular holds a special place in his heart: the rain forests of Gabon. He first visited as a Peace Corps volunteer. “It completely changed the way I think about conservation and our relationship with nature,” he says.
These days, Ellis is the global director of natural climate solutions science at the US-based conservation organization — The Nature Conservancy, where he’s presently investigating the role that logging (cutting down trees) can play in tropical forests. Logging for forest conservation may sound contradictory, and it often is. But logging in a tropical forest looks different to the practices we might expect to see. “We might imagine it as a wasteland of stumps (树桩) after a clear cut,” says Ellis. Instead, only a few trees are actually removed. A sustainably logged forest is the one that remains a breathing, rich, tropical rain forest full of trees and wildlife, thus helping keep a large part of the biodiversity while ensuring that more damaging industries don’t take its place. It can also provide a means of basic livelihood for the local people.
The two years that Ellis spent in the Gabon rain forests opened his eyes to a different method of land management. “The locals took me out into the forest and taught me the names, usages and spiritual significance of all the trees and other plants in the forest,” he says. “Science is about exact, designed experiments, but it’s also about asking the right questions. And the people who live in those places and protect the ecosystem are more likely to help us learn what the right questions to ask are.”
Tropical forests are essential to our planet’s future as they support high levels of biodiversity and act as crucial carbon sinks (碳储存器). “We need to honour, and protect them so that they can do their job to help save us all” says Ellis.
24.What does Peter Ellis think of his first visit to the rain forests of Gabon
A.It was poorly arranged. B.It made little difference to his life.
C.It brought him far-reaching influence. D.It was physically challenging for him.
25.What does Peter Ellis realize after his investigation in tropical rain forests
A.Logging means a complete clear-out. B.Logging balances the rain forests.
C.Logging brings huge profits to the locals. D.Logging encourages the local damaging industries.
26.What does Ellis suggest scientists do in protecting the rain forests
A.Consult experienced local people. B.Spread more knowledge about wildlife.
C.Get involved in designing procedures. D.Carry out more well-designed experiments.
27.What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A.To introduce Ellis’s future plan. B.To stress the importance of biodiversity.
C.To provide further information about Ellis. D.To call on people to preserve tropical rain forests.

Museums have been around for centuries, with the first known museum founded in the 3rd century BC. For a long time, they were used to showcase traditional artworks like paintings, sculptures and drawings. In recent times, however, digital art has started to gain popularity as an art form. This has raised the question of whether or not museums should accept digital art into their collections.
Digital art can be defined as an artwork created using digital technology and tools like computers, tablets and smartphones. It includes a variety of mediums such as animation, 3D modelling, virtual reality and video game design. Digital art is increasingly being used by artists to create unique pieces that are unlike anything else seen before.
The debate over whether museums should accept digital art into their collections has been ongoing for some time. On one hand, many believe that digital art is not “real” art and does not deserve to be given the same recognition as traditional artworks. On the other hand, supporters of digital art hold the view that museums should endorse this new form of expression and give it the same respect as any other type of artworks.
The truth is that many museums have already begun to accept digital art into their collections. In fact, some museums have even devoted entire exhibitions to showcasing digital artworks from around the world. This shows that there is a growing appreciation for this type of expression and that it is slowly becoming more accepted by mainstream audiences.
In general, while there may still be some debate over whether or not digital art deserves to be accepted into museum collections, it is clear that many museums are beginning to welcome this new form of expression. As more people realize the digital art and its potential as an artistic medium, it will likely become even more popular in years to come.
28.What do we know about the digital art from the first two paragraphs
A.It is warmly welcomed by all museums.
B.Its uniqueness leads to its high market value.
C.Its creation cannot be separated from digital technology.
D.It should be placed in museums according to most people.
29.Which can replace the underlined word “endorse” in the third paragraph
A.Increase. B.Reject. C.Create. D.Welcome.
30.What is the current situation of the digital art
A.It is acquiring increasing recognition.
B.It has been accepted by the mainstream audiences.
C.Most museums have accepted it as their collections.
D.This kind of exhibition can be seen all over the world.
31.Which can be the best title for the text
A.Latest digital art, hottest debate B.Digital art: the most popular art form
C.Should museums accept digital art D.How does digital art enter museums
D
“Eat together” is a statement that doctors use regularly when they talk with families about maintaining normal weight. Children who eat regular family meals tend to have lower rates of obesity (肥胖). A new study takes a look at why.
A team led by Jerica Berge asked the families of 120 children to record eight days of meals. Berge’s team sorted the interactions occurring at the table into two broad groups — those relating to the emotional atmosphere at the meal, such as how much the family members seemed to be enjoying the time together and how many uncomfortable silences occurred, and those involving food specifically, such as how many unpleasant feelings emerged from discussions about food and how much the parents controlled what and how much children ate.
Children who were overweight had family meals that included more negative emotional interactions compared to children who weren’t overweight. Their meals tended to have a warmer, more communicative atmosphere. For example, these children were encouraged to eat foods to get stronger or run faster, while heavier children experienced more negative pressures including threats and being made to feel guilty about those who can’t afford to eat three meals a day. If parents talked constantly throughout the meal about food, and lectured the children about homework or attempted to control what the children ate, the youngsters were also more likely to be heavy. Also, the researchers found heavier children tended to have shorter meals.
In the meantime, the current data suggests that simply sitting down at the same table at the same time isn’t enough to influence obesity. And it’s up to family doctors to help families understand how to take full advantage of having meals together.
32.On what basis did Berge’s team divide the subjects into two groups
A.Food served at three meals. B.Atmosphere during dinner.
C.Conversations in the workaday life. D.Interactions during family meals.
33.What did parents with non-obese children do at the table
A.They told the children to eat to get healthy. B.They talked with the children about homework.
C.They asked the children to finish meals quickly. D.They lectured the children about treasuring food.
34.What kind of tip should family doctors offer families
A.Cooking delicious meals. B.Dieting in a healthy manner.
C.Making good use of dining together. D.Creating shared conversation topics.
35.What does the passage mainly talk about
A.Obesity spreads across family members.
B.More and more children are becoming overweight.
C.Parents should give children freedom in food choices.
D.Sharing meals with parents reduces obesity in children.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
When starting my sixth-grade year, I was nervous about many things. But nothing compared to the problem that I got to the age where my voice started changing. At first, the voice getting deep excited me. But then I learned before getting deeper, it can crack (变嘶哑).
The first time it happened I was so embarrassed. Surprisingly, my friends didn’t make fun of me. In fact, they didn’t even mention it. But in my self-conscious sixth-grade mind I was certain they made fun of me behind my back. They weren’t having the same problem.
After my first voice crack experience, I was determined to make sure it wouldn’t happen again. At least not in public. So, except for strategic times I said, “cool” and “yeah”, I didn’t talk. My logic was, “If I don’t use my voice, it cannot crack.” However, I couldn’t go without talking forever. I needed a new solution.
I began clearing my throat before speaking, which actually seemed to help. Limiting how much I spoke and clearing my voice made me much less stressful. This was great but there was a larger problem. I was much more scared about having a voice crack during class. My class had many new kids I’d never spoken with. I didn’t want their first impressions of me to be based on a voice crack.
Unfortunately, one day my concern came true. It was about two months after the beginning of the term. On the day it happened everything was the same as always until I got into the classroom. I noticed that we had a substitute teacher (代课老师) and immediately started thinking about how he would take attendance. My permanent teacher never had to, since he already knew each student, I panicked. So many thoughts rushed through my mind that I couldn’t think straight. I calmed myself down by telling myself that I only had to say one word “Here”. “Easy enough, right ” I thought so until my name was called. I did my routine — cleared my throat, took a breath, and said, “Here.” The only problem was that while saying this, I had the worst voice crack in the history of voice cracks.
